Last Saturday I decided to be brave and drive to Sydney to go to my older sons place, even though it was raining here in Wollongong!! And took the boys to the Mardi Gras for the very first time.
So glad that I didn’t worry about the rain….cause it wasn’t raining for the Mardi Gras Sydney 2014 Parade…it only rained about 5 minutes while we walked to the train station.
And it was an event that I am glad I did not miss. Its now crossed off my bucket list.
Mardi Gras Sydney 2014 ::
We had so much fun at the Mardi Gras in Sydney! So glad that I went in…even if my Camera Settings was changed before hand, and the quality of the sound is no good..it was still good to see it and then all the talks about why we were there with our boys afterwards was super fun!
Because both boys are Homeschooled I loved that we could experience the Mardi Gras, and then share our thoughts and explain what it was all about without having to worry about the subject/topic/conversation NOT being appropriate for them. Actually Kyle was there for the Music and Cameron {being 12} understood it more!
Here is our Night captured on our Camera {sorry about the quality!!!} ::
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOU THE MARDI GRAS?
Would you take your kids to it?

If I had human kids and there was no drugs or alcohol parading around with the celebrating folks I would take them. Otherwise when folks get under the influence things can go sideways in seconds and I would never put them in that kind of harm’s way, Lisa 🙂
I couldn’t take Phoenix because he would be stealing parts off of everyone’s costume. Guaranteed Riot and Pandemonium!! 🙂

Oh I’d love to go to the Mardi Gras. I can’t believe in 40 years I never got there a single time! Thanks for the pics – looks like you had fun!

Thanks Tracey, Highly recommend going to it at least once 🙂
Hi Mike,
I am not sure about what others where doing around us, but I do know that we were fine. We stood next
to two guy couples who looked out for my boys and I.
We had a ball, and not once did we see anything going around us that made me concerned for our safety. There was a huge police presence that made the event safe for everyone 🙂
And yeah I could so easily see Phoenix getting into Mischief 🙂
Cheers

Do you reckon its a Tooth Fairy??? It was such a great night!
I would love to go to the Mardi Gras, it looks like it would be so much fun. Love to stay at an apartment on George street during it. I would have no problems taking my daughter when she is a bit older.
