The place that I would highly recommend to all those down in Melbourne. The one place that both David and I would love to return to if we were ever down that way – Woodland House Party.
After our wonderful morning at Langham Melbourne Masterclass we were not sure what the afternoon was going to bring, but gee we were so wonderfully surprised.
OH yeah its our kinda of relaxed, casual, fun, Chill out Yummy Food, Great Beer and really nice Music place. Actually the gardens and the Woodland house would be perfect for a 21st Birthday Party, Wedding Reception or even a fun get together with friends for a relaxed afternoon, or a romantic dinner party for two at night time.
Seen as how we were having our 20th Wedding Anniversary on the 18th of March and this was the 8th of March, we celebrated our anniversary ten days early!
While we were there we meet an amazing New Zealand Couple who were over here in Australia for three weeks for their honeymoon – that Sunday they had only been married for one week!
They were so cool to spend an afternoon chatting, and I asked as many questions as possible about New Zealand – they both ran Hotels over there, following the Snow seasons from country to country for the last few years, working at different locations and various job roles. Gosh they sure were young, and yet had experienced so much already.
Couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Sunday.
Good Food.
Great Beer.
Nice Music.
The most friendlies Staff in the universe.
Woodfired Pizzas, BBQ Chickens, BBQ Prawns, Ice-Cream that was out of this world.
And the free entertainment. What more could anyone ask for.
Married For Over 50 Years ::
Nearly forgot – to get to the Woodland House Party David worked out which Tram we needed, but we were not too sure which stop was going to be ours.
On the Tram across from us were a wonderful elderly couple – who learnt over and said “Don’t mean to earsdrop but can we help you get to your stop” – Turns out that they had there Wedding Reception at the Woodland House over 50 years ago….but they didn’t think it was called Woodland House back in their time.
Talk about a Small world hey!
All of the Chefs loved their Jobs – they took pride in the way they added fresh herbs to their dishes, and cooked up the food with such dedication!
This guy was super cool, dancing to the beat of the music, going to the fresh herb garden and adding the herbs straight into the BBQ! He totally loved his job, and was cooking the most yummiest BBQ Chicken and BBQ Prawns I have ever tasted.
He was cooking on a Brand New BBQ built by The Field Equipment Co – a BBQ that could fold flat! I got to speak with Tom Farrah, the creator behind the great idea – its a Perfect BBQ/Spit Roast for Caravans and Motorhomes. I can’t wait to see his products at all Caravan and Motorhome Shows.
Yep this was Licorice Ice-Cream but it tasted like Caramel – to describe the flavours wouldn’t do it justice, one had to taste it to understand how the taste buds enjoyed it.
Yes that’s me behind the Camera again, and David trying to look any where but at the mirror so that I don’t get his picture!
It was so much fun, watching them trying to make it and keep it on the Stick – there was Fairy Floss flowing through the air!!!
The New Zealand Honey Moon couple – he gave it a try and was really good at making it.
I didn’t try it – too much sugar in one hit for me – but the Honey moon wife tucked into what her hubby made and she said it was really yummy.
One of the very Brave Melbourne Food and Wine Festival organizer got brave enough to have a go! Even in a dress – and she got to the end to place the “Soft Bean Bag” on the end of the Velcro. It was so much fun to watch, but seen as how I was in a cocktail dress there was no way was I getting on there!
This was the most amazing tender meat ever…and it was gone within minutes – never seen a meal carved, served and eaten so fast before.
That is one very compact BBQ – see perfect for Caravans and Motorhomes!
Thanks Woodland House Party – it was the best afternoon ever…it finished at 7.00 pm – such a shame it was already finished cause we all had the best time.
David reckons that once a month we should find somewhere to meet up with others, and find a place just like Woodland House – but I reckon that it was one afternoon that we wont be able to create again.
If you are ever close to Woodland House, and want a night out then its a must place to go to – the food, the wood fired pizza, the feeling of the house -perfect.
Thanks to the wonderful Groovy Staff – you created the atmosphere and the care you took with the food shows how much you care about working there. It must be a great team to work with, one guy we spoke with has worked there for over seven years!
Have You Been To A Party Where You Fit Right In?
Cheers
