On the weekend we kept a promise to Kyle – he had seen that the Abbey Medieval Festival was coming up in July and he begged us to take him! He loves all things about the Medieval times {and Kombi Vans!} so it was a wonderful day to see him enjoying each store, every hands on display and waiting the Real Sword Fighting!
The Favorite Picture From The Day ::
I have no idea who the Artist is….I forgot to stop and find out! But this gorgeous drawing caught my eye, isn’t she a talented artist? And the lady sitting so still, having her face drawn….she is stunning. The whole thing took my breath away, it was one of those moments when you are walking bye, but then turn around to see it again cause it captures your heart.
Board Games Going Down!
Very serious Board Game going on….and there is No Phones, No Internet, NO Ipads {or Samsung Tablets} – the way life used to be! Love it. Connecting. Having Fun. Enjoying the Day. Being together with out distractions.
It was a very cool day and yet two beautiful smiling Tree Dancers {up high on Stilts} were sharing their love, and their smiles, walking around in such thin costumes!
These Fur Coats are so warm! But I am not sure about being comfortable enough to wear one….it was an animal and now its made into a coat? Do you own one? What are your thoughts about them?
Three different choices with Rice – Cameron chose Chicken, Garlic Mushrooms and then Caramelized Apples. Kyle chose a plate of Plain Rice!
When we walked past these three we thought they were all statues….and then one moved, and then another!! Only one of them is a statue…yet they got so many people time and time again – every time the “Real” ones moved people walking bye would be shocked and either scream or gasp! They got our family ๐
This gorgeous Tree Loving lady walked towards us, and let me take her Picture – Just love the costume and the details put into making it.
When they are ready to fire the canons they yell out “Have A Care” so that you have time to cover up your Ears – its loud!
We are not sure exactly what meat this – we think it might be Lamp Roast? It sure was being cooked slowly so it would be very tender what ever it is.
Never seen a BBQ like it – I spoke with the guy who was serving and he said that he had it shipped over from Germany – and it can cook with either wood or heat beads under neath, mind you the wood gets a bit too hot! I though it was brilliant, he said its the Worlds Most Photographed BBQ ever.
Can you see the Sign?
“THE EMPEROR NEEDS YOU

As we were walking around, looking at each “Clan” and the way they have set up Camp I was wondering how they all find each other? How do they know which Group to set up Camp with? And how can we travel with them….
It wasn’t till after I got home and looked at this sweet photo that I realised a Sweet Mama was feeding her baby….what a perfect place to sit and relax and take care of her baby needs.
The day was so good – I took about 260 photos from the day! Good easily share them all but that would be a very long blog post! The Abbey Medieval Festival for 2015 was great – would love to go back another time with our oldest sons – they would love it.
We have been to the Medieval Festival way back…..

Oh I love England, I went there when I was 18 for 2 months. Be great to see a Medieval Festival in the countryside of England. The Abbey Medieval Festival is such a great time – the amount of people who go all out there with their costumes is so great to see.
The Abbey Medieval Festival looks like such fun. Your photos are great. I love the costumes, the tree dancer (very unusual) and the gypsy dancers. Kyle and Cameron look very happy.

Thanks Paula for your great feedback ๐ It was so much fun.
I went to a festival like this a few years ago near Baltimore, Maryland. It goes by a different name here in the U.S. … we call them Renaissance Faires.
Like you, I took my kids. We had so much fun looking at the wares for sale in the booths and my kids talked me into buying a ribboned flower hairpiece, similar to the one you photographed. Our highlights were buying massive turkey legs for lunch, seeing all the people in costume and watching a jousting tournament. Believe it or not, jousting is actually Maryland’s “State Sport!”

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your experience Renaissance Faires.
