On Sunday afternoon three of our woody boys were over the moon! Only because they were allowed to fish for three hours at the Suncoast Barramundi Fishing Park located on the Sunshine Coast.
Not sure if you are aware, but Nicholas (our third boy) is mad about fishing. So much so that he lives, breathes, talks a lot about fishing every day!
How Much Fun Does This Look?
Did you know that the Barra Fishing Park lives up to their Business Statement!
Kyle (our baby who is six years old!) is heading the same way.
He is so funny with how he carry’s his rod around all day long with his tackle gear saying every day “Lets Go Fishing”!
Our Youngest Son Kyle Loves Fishing!
It’s amazing how clever Kyle is with his rod – he can cast a rod and sometimes he manages to catch a few fish when ever we go to our favorite fishing spot (do you know where our favorite spot is?)
Two hours into our visit.
Still Nothing.
Time for the place to close up.
Still Nothing.
Time to go home.
Maybe it was the overcast sky, maybe it was because the guys down from us was catching all the big fish 🙂
See – There is Big Barra Fish in the park!
Nicholas watching the guys that caught Barra!
Maybe it was because our boys kept seeing all the bubbles in the water (from the biggest Barra they have ever seen!)
So they kept moving their rod all around!
Our Son Cameron – Had lots of fun meeting new friends!
There were kids there that were his age – he love talking to them.
Or maybe it was because they had so much fun that they wanted to make sure they were able to return!
Whatever the reason – we now have a chance to return as we were given a day pass to go back and try again!
The part of the park that held my attention was the speed boats. The water sports section – it looked like so much fun.
I reckon even I would have loved a turn on the cable skiing. (not sure if I could have stayed up!)
Water Cable Sports – Looks like so much fun!
The layout of the Barramundi Fishing Park means that one side of the park has a “Water Section” for Cable Sports. The other side of the park has the fishing pond.
In the middle is a big lake where the speed boats are and where you can learn to cable ski for little ones.
Cable Skiing Anyone?
The history of the Barra Fishing Farm was interesting. At first it was just a water skiing park. Then it burnt down, and had to be re-built. Once they realised how popular the place was becoming they decided to expand.
There used to be a time when they had to take the ski jumps out of the water so that the beginners could use the lake. Now days they leave the jumps in and everyone has learnt to either go around them, or be brave enough to go over them!
Back To Why We Went There
Our son Nic could have easily stayed longer. I reckon that one day his wish of owning his own fishing boat will come true.
Our Son Passion is Fishing!
Kyle cant wait to return to catch the big one.
Cameron (is so like me!) wold love to try the water sports. Fishing is not really his thing.
Thought from Our Boys
Nicholas – My hi-light was seeing all of the Barra Jumping up to eat all of the food.
Cameron – My Hi-light of the Barra Fishing Park was making new friends.
Kyle – I liked walking around the fishing park to find the best fishing spot, and making new friends.
Watching the Sun Going Down – Magical!

Please Note – That the woody Boys were able to visit Barra Fishing Park courtesy of the park. All thoughts and opinions were are own!
PS – have you signed up to receive notices of when we are blogging?
I’m with you Lisa…I’m sticking with the water skiing. That looks like a lot of fun, but I just know I’d end up going over a jump inadvertently. Oh well…price I’d be willing to pay.
