There is a Hash Tag going around #BringBackOurGirls. It caught my attention on a friends facebook page, so I jumped on over to google to find out what was going on.
Seen as how we do not have TV, or radio we rely on the Internet to keep us up to date. What I found out shocked me, its 2014 how can this be happening???
According to what I have been reading an extreme group called Boko Haram – which means “Western Education is Sin” is now organising mass kid napping of all girls who are in Schools or who are seeking an education. They are being held in the Jungle and are being sold off.
Sold off for as little as $12.00 ????????
WTF.
This is what he is saying ::
““I abducted your girls. I will sell them in the market, by Allah,” a man claiming to be Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau said in a video first obtained by Agence France-Presse.”
Bring Back Our Girls
How can anyone think that this is okay? How can anyone think that by forcibly taking Girls and selling them into a life of slavery/rape/abuse is Gods way? Its not. Okay – I am not against religion. Each to their own.
But I am against ANYONE thinking its okay to take a Girl and do what you like with them. I am against anyone who takes their rights away.
Why is the world watching this go down and NOTHING is being done about it?
Nothing.
No-one even really knew about it until the Social Media hashtag was created to help these women out.
A few have managed to escape. I so wished that all of them had managed to escape. I so wished that I was over there and could buy all of them for a mere $12.00 each so that I could set them free to return them to their family.
But I am not. And there is nothing that I can do from here in Australia. But I can share this image ::
And I can share their story in the hope that someone, anyone, the powers that be can help to save them??
Why is everyone so focused on finding a Plane that went missing {and I sure hope they can find the plane and the passengers/crew} weeks ago but NO-ONE higher up is focused on these girls?
Is it because they live in Nigeria where Women are not given rights, not respected? Or because they are the lower class area and are not rich white women? Where have our standards gone to??? Double standards or what.
What if this was a Private School in Sydney? Where rich and famous send their Girls? Would they be jumping up and down and demanding that their daughters be returned? Of course they would.
What if this was a Rich Private School in England?
What if this was a Rich Private School in America?
So why is the Governments world wide ignoring this situation? How many girls have to be forcibly taken from their Schools/their families before someone stands up and helps out? How many girls have to be killed or raped or tortured before a country will help out?
What is Wrong With Our World We Live In?
What Can You Do?
- Share this image on all social media.
- Share this blog post on all social media.
- Use the hashtag #bringbackourgirls
Make this go out to the whole world so that someone out there will stand up and take notice. Make this story stay current so that these girls lives are saved before its too late.
Stop this extreme group from taking more girls. Take the leaders life ~ he needs to be stopped and his followers stopped.
Because this is not happening here in Australia, Or United Kingdom, Or America….BUT if it can happen in Nigeria what’s stopping it from spreading world wide?
Women have a right to an education.
They have a right to stay safe. They have a right to make choices. They have a right to live.
#BRINGBACKOURGIRLS – it could your girls.
What Are Your Thoughts On The Situation?
Cheers

New Life on the Road
Yes, 3 weeks on…. it’s not looking good. The lies, apathy and cover-ups from the Nigerian government is beyond tragic for these girls and their families. I am not optimistic.
What is really sad as well is that most of us didn’t even hear about the girls abduction until about a week ago, and yet it happened over three weeks ago!! Not only have the worlds governments got something to answer to, but so have the worlds news agencies 🙁 My heart breaks for these poor young girls and their families.

Unfortunately girls getting an education is being attacked in all kinds of places that don’t get reported in the news. I grew up in Pakistan and I know there are all kinds of horrendous things that happen there that don’t get reported on the news or social media. We’re going to be screening the film Girl Rising at our church on the 24th May and having an special representative from the UNHCR there as a speaker. Well done for spreading the word just a little bit more.
