Never ever been to Bronte Beach Sydney before, but was super glad we went there before we left New South Wales. So glad cause its gorgeous 😉
But this is not going to be my normal blog posting and sharing about our travels. This is going to be a deep warning to all parents who have little ones that they are raising.
My kids are almost all fully grown up so I don’t have to think about them with the way technology is now days, but I am hoping this will reach at least one family and help them to re-think about their precious little one’s safety.
Bronte Beach Sydney – perfect one day, gorgeous the next. And yes it will take your breathe away.
Bronte Beach Sydney
Its a family beach, with lots of different age groups all on one spectacular location and I don’t want to spoil such a gorgeous spot but I am not going to sit back and watch went down.
This situation is not the first time this has happened when we are out and about.
And I am sure it won’t be the last 🙁
While I was watching Kyle, walking back and forward from the beach to the rock pools I walked past a guy who was sitting under an umbrella. Big deal?
Yeah nothing wrong with a single older guy sitting on the beach hey?
But this guy got my attention asap. Why?
Because he had a GOPro in one Hand, hooked up to his Phone, and was recording the little ones that were at the edge of the beach.
Yeah so I have a big camera with me, and I take pictures when I am out and about. But I don’t ever zoom in to little kids anywhere, I take my boys pictures and I am respectful of other people around me.
But this guy was pointing his GoPro Camera to the little kids that were in the shallow part of the ocean.
The thing is these sweet little innocent kids were not in swimmers, they were playing naturally at the beach in their birth suits – yeah they are little and innocent and they were cute. They were also naked.
And this guy was filming particular families.
It made my skin crawl, and I was so glad my youngest is now too old for him to be of interest, and was at the rock pools instead of in the water.
This guy was caught out by one family in particular.
They felt and seen what he was doing, and they soon realised that the guy was filming the Dad with his two kids. Luckily the kids had full on swimmers and were not the cute little ones that he was filming before.
The Mother and I started chatting as I soon realised what was going on, I have been in this situation many years ago at South Bank in Brisbane with an older guy using a box to take pictures of little ones at the pool area, but thats a whole other story.
The Mother was shaking so much, and the Father reported him straight away to the Life Guards.
The Life Guards were fast to act, they stood up on the steps behind the guy watching what he was doing, before they approached him and had a very firm word with him over his actions.
He soon realised his game was up, and he had no choice but to put his GoPro Camera away.
But here is the scary bit – How many sweet little kids were videoed before he put the camera away?
And what will he be doing with that film?
What dark scary website will that video film turn up on?
And with today’s technology there is face recognition software devices that can pick up on a face and their privacy information of where they live can be soon found easily.
What’s My Point In This Rant?
Well we can’t be bet today’s technology, but we can’t protect our sweet little innocent kids as much as possible.
If you are at the beach, or out and about anywhere, don’t let your little one’s walk around naked. Sad but its the way we have gone in our world.
Sick older men are taking advantage of our families.
Now I look back and I wished I had walked up to each family and had a word with the Dad’s to let them know their little ones were being filmed.
It got to the stage that the Life Guards called the police, but somehow the guy must have known because he packed up and left a few minutes before the police arrived. Which is such a bummer because I would have loved seeing them destroy the footage he had taken.
In hindsight I should have spoken with the numerous families and they all should have gotten together and walked over to him and confronted him and smashed his GoPro. Harsh but it would have been so good considering what he was doing.
So yes Bronte Beach Sydney is beautiful, and is packed with so many families.
But Parents open your eyes up and seeing what is going on around you.
Please let this reach at least one Parent and they can then take actions to protect their family.
Like i said this is not the first time this has happened to us. We have two other incidents on two different locations, on two different days where a single older guy took advantage of today’s technology and his surrounding situation to blend in and take advantage of sweet innocent kids 🙁
But please, as Parents, lets change this situation and do something to stop these creepy guys.
Next time I know I won’t be silent and do nothing.
Have You Had This Happen To You?
Cheers
Lisa
New Life on the Road
Nice beach and there are so many wonderful places for us to see.
thanks, we sure are lucky to live in Australia – so much to see and do 😉
That must have been very worrying and thanks for this wake up call. As parents, we are only too happy to let the children scamper away on their own on public beaches just so we can have a moment of rest. Glad you called the sick old fella out.
Its crazy how we much we have to watch our kids, they are no longer safe even at the beach!! I too like to think that our kids are okay playing in the sand, but not when people are taking pictures/videos of little ones!!
When it comes to our kids, it is sad to admit that we can never be too vigilant or careful. But it is better to err on the side of caution.
yep better to be safer than sorry xx
