Over the weekend we were invited to a friends place, for a BBQ dinner, Pit Fire, Good times, Lots of laughter, great friends and yummy food. It was a weekend full of Childhood Dreams where kids got to play, create, explore and roam free, get dirty, stay up way past their bed time and be allowed to be kids. It was a Birthday celebration weekend, and one that we all enjoyed!
Its the stuff us parents used to do when we were small – you know, getting dirty, laughing with our friends, running free without the worries about anything happening to us- all set on acreage so we knew where all of our kids were and yet they had the freedom that we all took for granted! Its the stuff where friendships are made……
Three beautiful girls who friendships are going to be so important as they start to enter teenage years.
This Guy….what can I say? He cracks me up…and he had everyone in stitches the whole night! His family are so cool, they have five children and they homeschool them all – super Mama who is super beautiful is raising them so fine! I was saying to David {on the way home today} “They are such beautiful kids, and all get along so well” – there was at least 12 children there last night. Each and everyone of them got along so well.
In the morning we woke up to this view….
The dinner was cooked on this cool BBQ and also Breakfast – what a cool set up! Never have to cook inside again when you have something like this. Can anyone work out what it used to be, what used to be able to be cooked on it?
Their oldest daughter {and her brothers/sisters} and Kyle were able to build a Billycart out of scrap stuff that was laying around the place. ALL by themselves, without parents having to build it for them. Kyle has always wanted to build a billycart, something has talked about for so very long, and now has crossed off a childhood wish.
No-one crashed and burned….that time! But there was many other times it rolled. And yet no-one was hurt.
Our weekend was so very good. I was able to complete something that I needed to do for my course {yeah I am still not saying what I am studying yet!!!}, we were able to chill out – something David and I have NOT done in a very long time, and we were all able to sit around the fire – laughing, sharing, joking and having a great time with other adults while our boys were able to be kids!
There is something about sitting around a Fire Pit….
The warmth of the fire seems to fill your soul and creep into your mind…. healing, filing up spaces with warmth and making one feel so much better. Not sure what it is, but you can sit there and look into those flames for so very long and you could easily stay there all night long.
So very grateful that we decided to go – David had to work over time yesterday and came home so exhausted – he just wanted to curl up into bed but we also wanted to see our friends. Glad we went cause we meet some great people and was loved by our friends {they feed us all again!!}. We love you guys – thanks for having us.
Was Your Childhood Full Of Dreams?
Cheers

Love this
The warmth of the fire seems to fill your soul and creep into your mind….healing.
What we are today comes from our thoughts of yesterday, and our present thoughts build our life of tomorrow.
Our life is the creation of the mind.

Oh wow you are having so much fun Sicily 🙂
No the big long BBQ that the family is now using {they added drums} used to be for a “Noodle Bar” restaurant – such a great way to recycle a product!
And I was smiling all weekend, it was a great time.
Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. One, no doubt, you and your family will cherish the memories of.

Hi Lisa, your weekend of Childhoom Dreams certainly sounds awesome and a lot of fun!! The of of the kids with smile that says it all is priceless! It’s great to see kids enjoying the great outdoors, playing with each other. That’s how a grew up. I’m sad that a lot of kids these days prefer to be cooped up inside and play with electronics.
