My head is still spinning, and I am trying to remember all that I have learnt! Three days and two nights in Melbourne was not long enough but it was the most amazing two days ever (arrived about 9.00pm Wednesday night so it was really two days).
Digital Parents Conference
The Digital Parents Conference was yesterday, and to be honest I was not in the right frame of mind to start the day with. No Organic Coffee with Real Milk and No Green Smoothie plus a trip there that has many twists and turns to it (will have more about that later!)….nope I just wanted to go home.
Luckily I couldn’t as my flight was not till later that afternoon. Luckily I listened to my amazing hubby on the phone…who told me to calm down, take deep breaths and remember why I was there in the first place.
The View from Novotel Hotel at St Kilda ~
Where I stayed for the Two Nights!
So I did – I held it together (mostly) and I took hundreds of deep breaths. I remembered why I wanted to be there, and I meet up with some amazing bloggers who were kind enough to let me sit with them, connect with them and make the day perfect.
Feeling Like I Was Finally At Home
Within the first hour I felt like I was at home. Which is still something that I can’t explain fully but something deep within felt like I was in the right room….I was with other bloggers, who got what I do online. There was no questions to explain, and no funny looks….no funny remarks. It was a room full of bloggers who were all there to support each other and to share the same journey. It was Digital Parents in its finest.
I am still trying to put into words what I learn that day, and still trying to gather the information and use it to help New Life on the Road and Learn How To Blog Site. So in the next few days….maybe weeks….I will try to get all of the information out of my head and into something that will be easy for you to read.
World Vision Information
The reason I was in Melbourne was because I wanted to learn more from World Vision Australia. You see I want to teach my boys how amazing they have it in Australia, and how we are so very fortunate to be able to live a life that has so much…but I was never sure which way to teach them this or how I could impact them in a way that would help them to appreciate what they have, and to give back more.
World Vision Australia Head Office
That was where World Vision stepped in. We brought our boys a Goat for Christmas just gone, and Davids parents a Duck. I have also done World Vision 40 Hour Famine many years ago with the High School that I went to – actually I organised World Vision 40 Hour Famine for the High School. It is really important to show our boys that any little bit that we do can make a difference some how to another person life – be it something as small as a xmas gift, or something bigger where its Child Sponsorship. Together we make the world a better place.
So once I get down from Cloud Nine, once I get some sleep after being very delayed with the flight back from Melbourne to Brisbane, and once I have got our bus ready for moving on, there will be lots to share.
I guess what I want to know from you is ….
“What Do You Want To Know About Digital Parents and World Vision?”
Cheers
Lisa

Please note that my trip was possible because of many companies who helped with my stay. World Vision Australia arrange my flights down, for which I send a huge Thankyou. Please connect with World Vision and see if you are able to make a difference….one small step leads to more steps, which leads to running. Lets all make this world a better place!
Well I would just like to know what you did at the conference. Where there different speakers? What subjects were covered. In what way are you hoping to help World Vision?

Looking forward to hearing about your Digital Parents Conference. Was it like the Problogger event? Nuffnang are holding a conference in June — Sydney.
Hi Kerry,
It was a bit like the Problogger event, but more information was shared by other bloggers. It was the best day – I didnt realise that Nuffnang was holding one….oh I so need to find a sponsor so that I can attend that one!
Cheers

I have to admit I know very little about World Vision and nothing at all about Digital Parents, but it’s sounding like something I should know about so I’m looking forward to reading more! I lover the view from your hotel – St Kilda is beautiful – I always said that if we ever ended up moving to Melbourne that is where we would live. Hope all goes well packing up the bus to move on!

Hi Suzi,

I’ve always been a bit reluctant to go – very scary environment – too many high achievers!! So well done on taking those hundreds of deep breaths and doing it anyway! Sounds like you had an awesome time, can’t wait to hear more about it.

It was the best time – You so should be there! I am still trying to come down from Cloud Nine. Will go through my notes and get it into something that I can easily write and others can understand!
Wish I could do a live recording so I can remember everything for ever.
Cheers

We so loved having you Lisa:) All of you who came for the day totally rocked and we’re loving the way you’re all supporting Eden on her trip to Niger. We can’t wait to share more with you and the other Blogger Ambassadors and hope that your new ‘surprise’ place is exciting and fun:) xClare, World Vision Team
