After the Eden Whale Festival and our over night stop at East Ben Boyd Forest Rest Area {We found the over night stop in our Camp 7 Book Page 157} we spent Sunday {all day!!!} Visiting Edens Fascinating Sites. When I went into Eden’s Tourist information Centre I grabbed a Pamphlet all about what to see and what to do while down there so that we could make the most of our time. Here is a Brief preview of our day ~ I will have more about each site in the next few weeks.
The Dirt Road in was long and bumpy in some stretches but so worth it – seeing each attraction is worth the drive.
Edens Fascinating Sites ::
1. Davidson’s Whaling Station
2. Edrom Lodge
You can’t actually see the Edrom Lodge from driving up to it, and you can’t see inside it but you can see it from the Navy Bridge ~ By walking half way over the bridge and looking to the left….
3. The Seahorse Inn
I remember visiting The Seahorse Inn when I was younger, with my family. Sitting on the back deck, over looking the beach drinking soft drinks and eating chips. Driving towards the building gave me chills and bought back so many wonderful memories – it was so very good to see it still standing there.
While I was on the Beach I was able to Watch a couple on the Veranda – they were drinking, relaxing and sharing some quality time together – something I would love to do with hubby one day!
4. Seamen’s Memorial Wall
5. Boyd’s Tower
6. National Timber Workers Memorial
7. Boydtown Church
The Church ruins can not be accessed anymore, the property is surrounded by a Electric Barbed Wire Fence and the gate is padlock -and then closer to the Church Ruins is another Electric Barbed Wired Fence. There used to be a time when the Ruins were open to the Public but the local kids were doing burn outs around the building in their cars on the weekends that it soon became too dangerous, and they were destroying the place.
8. Mary MacKillop Hall
9. Green Cape Lighthouse
It was so very cold, like freezing cold, and I was struggling with walking against the wind. When Kyle took off ahead of me and made it the Lighthouse Lookout – at least he kept warm by running ahead.
We got to see so much in one day, and more the next day! This is only a brief preview of each Edens Fascinating Sites ~ I will be sharing the information about each place in more details over the next few weeks 🙂
We like to ask our boys what their “Favorite Thing Was From the Day” each evening….both Cameron and Kyle couldn’t chose one Favorite from site seeing that day because they enjoyed the Tower, the Whaling Station, Lighthouse, and the Memorial Hall.
Guess You Could Say Eden Is A Fascinating Town.
Some of the locations we visited….
Edrom Lodge to Seamens Memorial Wall to Boydtown Beach to Ben Boyd National Park
Have You Been To Eden’s Attractions?
Cheers
Lisa
New Life on the Road
*** Spaceships Camper Vans provided a Campervan for our trip to Eden and Back. We were not paid to write anything, nor where we paid to use the Vehicle {We Paid for our own Fuel}. The weekend to Eden for the Whale Festival was magical.
It looks like there was plenty to explore. I just love the look of that lodge and the lighthouse too!
It was a magical time, exploring all of Eden, we can’t wait to go back another time 🙂
So glad you enjoyed our town and its surrounds thanks for sharing
It was such a magical weekend Jenny, how lucky you are living there 🙂
