Nicholas is now going into day seven with his Foot Infection. It started of with a small bruise and a comment from Nicholas that his foot was hurting. On Saturday morning he woke up and he could not walk on it. Then by Sunday (even with Pain Relief) he could not take the pain and it was slowly spreading over his foot in a red angry mark.
Foot Infections Are Nasty
By Sunday afternoon the pain relief was not lasting and he would not let us anywhere near it. So I took him to the Local Hospital. We are not into Doctors (which is nothing against the medical industry) is just that we are into healing with Natural ways. We use a lot of herbal remedies, and have a few books on what to use for certain infections.
Nicholas Foot Infection~
The Doctors Drawing!
(Thanking you all for your amazing hints/tips/remedies over on our Facebook Page….we have used a combination of them!)
The doctor at the hospital was not keen to muck around with the foot. He didn’t even want to prick it open. He cleaned it off with sterilised Water, put a bandage on it and sent us off with Crutches and antibiotics.
By Monday it was like a big lump hanging out of his foot. Even the strongest pain relief was only giving him about an hour of relief. By Tuesday night David was listening to me to encourage Nicholas to squeeze it out. He still would not let anyone near it. We even had to let him open it up with a pin as he wouldn’t let us touch it.
While David was listening to me to ask Nicholas to move closer to the hole to push out more puss, he was reading a book to Kyle. Dave then jumped off the bed (quietly) and grabbed Nicholas foot. Within minutes he had so much puss coming out – something I have never ever seen before.
After the Puss Exploded ~
Yes it looks bad but this when it started to feel better for him!
Of course Nicholas didn’t get time to react – he was screaming but it was over within minutes. I was trying to calm him down, and at the same time let him know that Dad had already finished – we were cleaning it up when he thought we were still trying to get the puss out. I have never ever in all of my time with our boys seen anything like it.
If you are able to handle the gross stuff…..imagine a sausage machine! Well that was what the puss was like – it was everywhere! I didn’t even think of getting photos or anything as I was stunned with how quick Dave worked, and how well Nicholas was handling the pain. And with how much puss there was.
That night he slept better – we again put a bandage on it to keep it clean.
Today With A Sea Salt Soak ~
water with salt and Camomile Tea !
On Wednesday morning we had another travelling Mum come over and she was able to squeeze out more puss. It looks really bad in the photos – but he kept on telling me that it felt so much better. By this stage he was no longer asking for pain relief.
Last night I cleaned it with a mixture of Camomile Tea, Tree Tea Oil and then we placed more Cabbage over it. Once the Cabbage went hot I took it off and then placed nearly one whole tub of Paw Paw Cream mixed with Betadine over it, covering it with a Bandage. I gave him a Green Tea followed with a Camomile Tea.
Nicholas Foot Today ~
After using Sea Salt Wate, and Cabbage Leaves!
He is also on L-lysine tablets (double dosage for the infection), Tissue Salts Blood Cleanser Calcsulph as well as Raw Garlic. Today we have started him on Carrot, Ginger, Apple and Pear Juice to help clean out his body and repair the good cells.
This morning again the other Travelling Mum was able to squeeze out more puss. He will let her work on it but will not let me anywhere near it! I think he is trying to be brave in front of her 🙂
She has been suggesting Salt Water Soaks for three days, but he wouldn’t do it incase it hurt. Today we were able to get his foot into the Salt Water solution for over an hour.
And he is now walking on it! He still has Cabbage Leaves over it and it’s still covered up. It is not 100% normal, but it’s on the way to being better. There was less puss this morning, and yes even though the redness is still there – it’s no where not it was like a few days ago. He is no longer screaming in pain, no longer on any pain relief and is actually smiling again.
Nicholas Being Nicholas ~
Yep we got his foot into Salt Water and Yes he is poking his tongue out at me 😉
I now know why Women have babies – he is the biggest sook of our family – and he screams so loud!! I was surprised we havent had anyone knocking on our door while he is letting us all know how much pain he was in 🙂
But it did look bad, and like the Doctor said – its on the most sensitive part of any body.
We still have no idea what or how it has happened. He is working on a boat at the moment, with treated wood, so it could be that. He remembered that he stood on a rock and that it was soon sore after that.
Nicholas was working in and around this Boat ~
It has treated timber for the Seats!
But it could be a 100 other things – he never ever wears shoes ( I have given up asking him too!)…there is so much around here that it could be. He hasn’t been to far from the Bus, and no-one else has come down with it, so more than likely it was splinter.
He is now wearing thongs so fingers are crossed this never happens again. But then again Boys will be Boys!
Dave reckons it’s a Boil. He had heaps of them when he was going through teenage years, and he used to burst them himself! Or get the doctor to drain them! GROSS.
Maybe that is why I am a girl and I wear my shoes….Gross Puss Stuff is not something I can handle at all!!! Child Birth looks easy compare to puss and boils!!
Have You Ever Experienced Foot Infections, or Infections Like This One?
Cheers

I don’t know Lisa, if it was just one boil, I think I would take the boil!

Hi Jan,

Phew , it looks painful, glad it s getting better. My friend used Cooloidal silver on her 2 yr olds huge thigh abscess. It worked well .
It is a natural therapy too.

Hi Trish,
We used to use Coolodial Silver for ear infection, but we haven’t got any at the moment. So far we have used Organic Honey, Drawing paste, Cabbage Leaves and he is on so much inner health tablets.
Tonight we also used Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide (dilated) and that has helped. Over night we use Paw Paw ointment….fingers are crossed this is the worst and he is on the mend.
Cheers

Jono had one of these on his arm like I told you on Facebook. What I forgot to mention is he had two more appear over a 6 month period. The doctor said they were boils. They sure were gross! I know what you mean about the sausage machine! Surely one of the most amazing things I’ve seen!!

Hi Tracey,
We think it is a Boil. David had a lot of them while he was going through the teenage years, and Nicholas is now 13!! We sure hope that this will be the last, but we will wait and see.
Did you treat your son Jono infection Naturally? And did they scar after they Burst.
cheers

Oh my goodness, that is truely awful! The poor chap!!! I think my first worry would have been a spider bite!!
Little Gumnut recently posted..Not revving up again
Hi Sophie,
We have had so many people say Spider Bite – yet we are starting to think Boil. A lot of puss has come out, and its almost better. He can now walk on it and we can see the redness fading quickly 🙂

You may want to do more reading on treated lumber. Several years ago, a young girl in our town got a small splinter in her foot from treated lumber. It moved to her ankle and leg and took many months of treatment for her to heal. I don’t want to be an alarmist, but just check it further, particularly if it seems to heal and then becomes infected again.
Love reading your posts. I’m from southern West Virginia (USA). Take care.
Hi Wilma,
Not good about the young girl in your town. It is starting to look like Nicholas foot was an infection but we haven’t been able to see anything within the infection. We have got a lot of puss out, and fingers are crossed that it is now on the mend!
Thanking you for taking the time to stop by and leave your great comment.
Cheers
