I am not going to say exactly where in Bundaberg we have been Geocaching in the last week and a bit, only cause I don’t want to spoil it for others that also love to find caches.
But gee we are super glad to be back looking for hidden treasures, actually Kyle and I are the only ones that enjoy it! David and Cameron have no patience for hunting around to find the containers. So we are working out what to do with those two while Kyle and I escape for fun and games.
Geocaching In Bundaberg ::
There are so many caches on the map for Bundaberg – not sure if we will ever have the time to find them all, and super bummed that we didn’t think to check Geocaching.com before we headed from Bargara to The Lighthouse, because there was many caches along the way {even one at The Lighthouse 🙁 }
But its been fun trying to work out how many we can do in one day – yesterday we managed to find five! Not bad for an afternoon of exploring. And we got to see a Historical Site that we never ever knew was there – actually I bet the locals don’t even know its there because if you blinked you would so miss the information about what used to be in the area.
The Tiniest Cache Ever ::
the following few pics are from our Instagram account because I didn’t have our camera with us, and I took them with our phone! Must always remember to carry camera, and Pen/Pencil when out looking for caches!
This was all last weeks finds! Today I was smarter and had my Canon Camera with us, and got some great pics ::
Yeah I sank in the mud today! And it felt gross under my feet. Luckily in the back of our Campervan we carry water – actually it is our Shower when we go camping, which we hope to do very soon.
It took us three attempts to find this one! Very tricky cache, hidden well out of sight, but at the same time it made sense where we found it.
Kyle is such a “Giver” so he loves finding things in our motorhome to “Swap” with these bigger type caches. He loves gifting a toy to another GeoKid 🙂
We stayed on the Road, looking for traffic as we went. There was no way either one of us was going in that deep puddles!
Yeah it was dirty on the outside, but surprising enough it was dry and clean on the inside. Some of the caches we have found have been water logged and not able to write in the Log Book!
The lid was on that tight that I had to take the container to the Road and gently tap it on the ground. It took a couple of attempts before the lid was lose enough for me to un-do!
Kyle keeps a Zip locked bag in our Campervan with little trinkets inside. And he has lots of fun swapping something for what ever he can find. Today it was swapping a smaller “Bouncing Ball” for smiling badges. Or something like that – we visited five caches so I can’t exactly remember what he swapped with at each one, but do know that he loved finding each cache.
The area we looked in had lots of caches placed by the same member. Which was so handy because we were kinda of aware of what to look for each time.
We are only free members of Geocaching.com – and we don’t have a GPS device with us, so we work with the co-ordinates that each Geocaching description gives us, and then use Google maps to help us out. Not the easiest or quickest way to operate Geocaching In Bundaberg but for us its Okay for the time being.
Maybe next Xmas/Birthday someone will gift me a GPS and pay for full membership to the website/App {hint/hint Kids/Hubby}
Have You Tried Geocaching In Bundaberg?
Cheers
Lisa
