Is there such a thing in life as having a best friend? I used to think so when I was little at primary school but I lost touch with all of my friends – even the ones I had in high school! I am not good at writing letter, hopeless at phone calls, and only text now and then. I can do emails to stay in touch, but even then I am not the best at that! I prefer to keep in touch with friends either by having a coffee (plus cake) together, or staying in touch via facebook. Having Good Friends makes the world of difference when you are on the road, and when you are homeschooling!
Two Lots of Good Friends in One Week!
The other day we had some great friends drop in with their new born baby. I got to cuddle him, and marvel over how small he was. He wasnt even that small because he was a big baby when born! Funny how tiny they look compared to their brothers/sisters. It was so good to see the family, as they were the ones that inspired our Motorhome over 2 years ago (and helped to bring it home). They have a boy about Kyles age, and then 2 girls plus their baby boy. It was so good to see how excited our boys were to be able to play with kids!
Having Good Friends Drop In
Today we surprised our youngest. All of our boys were in on the secret – not even revealing who was coming. It was the first time we ever surprised Kyle – and the first time I was able to keep the other boys quiet about the secret meeting! At first we were going to drive somewhere – like a park with shade. But at the last minute I was home without a car (David was out for the day – more about that later!) and I had to cancel our trip out, or ask our great friends to come here. Lucky for us they agreed that it would be fun to come to our Motorhome and spend time with our family.
I so wished I had taken a photo of Kyle face when his good friend had arrived! It was priceless….and when his good friend Mum got out of the car he was bursting….asking “Did you bring Oakley with you”! How funny are kids…thinking that his best friend Mum drove all the way to see us, maybe not bringing his great mate!
The Best Day With Friends
All of our boys got along so well. It was fun walking to the Caravan Park playground, and the river. We had six boys between us…one in a pram and the rest walking. It was amazing to see how all of the boys got along so well. There was plenty of laughter, plenty of fun, and lots of yummy food (Did I mention how the great friends Mum brought the yummiest Baked Cheese Cake I have ever tasted!) like fruit salad….and yeah cheese cake!
Missing Good Friends
If there is one thing that we miss while living in our Motorhome is socialising with Friends. I love to meet like minded people, and share good times. There is something to be said about having a community of people around you that A) you get along really well with B) you can share lots of laughter with. I think that would have to be the only thing I do miss when travelling. But I guess that we will all make friends as we go around Australia. Good Friends that we can keep in touch with (via online methods!)
What Does Having Good Friends mean to you and your family?

Hello,
Everybody needs friends at different times in their development. Someone to talk with over your success`s and failures. Just meeting a friend once a year can make all the difference.

I always used to think you only had one best friend, but now I have so many amazing friends that you can share all sorts of different and wonderful things with, why limit yourself to one best friend. I think social media is definitely important in keeping in touch with friends. After the move to adelaide from darwin five years ago it got difficult to stay in contact with all my friends the way I wish I could… however its very easy when someone pops up to just say hello! The power of technology!

Hi Tegan,
I like your idea of having many amazing friends who you can share your life with. Are you good with writing letters and phone calls? That is one of my down falls – but I can keep in touch with Social Media – love facebook, twitter and emails for that one!
Cheers
