Today I woke up with so much going through my head – and a tooth ache! Yeah I know I so need to go the dentist but its one my true fears and I have lived with this sore tooth for many years, so a bit of Vegemite on the Gums and lots of water and I should be ok. But then I had those thoughts going through my head….
What am I doing with our blog, and which direction do I want to take it in? See I really need Help! I’m Lost And I Am Not Sure Which Direction To Head In – Do I keep blogging about travel, adventure, experiences or do I blog about our family – or do I blog about life in general. I look at many blogs and read a big variety of them – they sure are good with their style of writing and how they can draw a crowd in. Then I start to wonder….
What am I doing? I failed at English in High School, I never ever passed a spelling test and my English Teachers told me that I would never ever be able to write a story or a book and have someone read it!
Where Should I Go?
Then I start to think – does anyone even read this blog? Which is so silly because people must – well at least I know Hubby does because he starts talking about something that I have written…then I will look at him with a blank look on my face. “What, how do you know that I wrote that?” So I guess he must be reading them when I am out and about doing things with our boys.
But what about you? Do you want me to share more about our family, or more about our travels, or both?
You see I would love to be a full-time blogger. I would love to go to Sydney for the Nuffnang Blogopolis in June 30th (this year!) but David has said that it would have to be a trip that is fully funded. Which leads me back to the Blogging on-line full-time! I would have to have sponsors for my trip to down to Sydney and for my ticket…where do I look for Sponsors who want to advertise with a banner on our site??
Who would want to sponsor New Life on the Road?? And how could we give them value for money! See – I have so much going around and around in circles with so many questions – time I started looking for the answers.
Time To Get Serious
I guess its time to get serious about this blogging business. Time I started to treat it like a business so that I am able to travel to many conferences in Australia and learn more about this online blogging world. Some days I have so much confidence with knowing what I am doing, other days I feel like I am swimming up-stream against the current without any idea of where I am trying to go to!
New Make-Over
In the next few days our blog is going through a major make-over. Things will still be the same, but moved around so that its more user-friendly! So if you come here and you can’t find what you are looking for, please let me know so that I can help to find it! We are also going to be adding new blog posts about things that mean a lot to us! But more about that later.
If You Think You Can Help
If you think that you can help in any way – from ideas, to designs, to direction or to even how we can have a full-time sponsorship so that this blog can keep going, send them on through. You can leave a comment below (please!) or email lisawsdream@gmail.com and I will be in touch.
Needing Your Help – Would Love To Hear From You.

Lisa,
I know ideally you’d like to make a ton of money from your blog but for it to be successful- the key is to enjoy it. Allow your passion/personality to seep through onto the page. Don’t put yourself into a box about what you write about nor whether your capable of doing it, blog about whatever you feel is important that day/week/month. First come readers- than come the sponsors. To get the readers- you gotta get people WANTING to read your posts, and to get people wanting to read your posts- you need to put yourself onto a page. Remember- it wont happen overnight.
Hi Lee,
thanking you for your great advice – I guess I am trying to find my reason for blogging here! I like the idea of writing from the heart – will be doing more of that!
Cheers
Lisa
Lisa… I hear you
What I’d like to know about your travels are the following; who the characters are that inhabit (albeit breifly perhaps)where you are… you know, the really interesting people that are outside the box so to speak. I’d like to know what if anything the local authorities want to draw our attention to, eg; the improvements councils are making to make our experience of their area better for travellers; what is real estate in the area doing… such as rental options, house prices (ie value for money, food and fuel prices, what are the demographics of the ‘other’ travellers, how long have they been on the road, how do they create income for their travels, where have they been that is worthy of a paragraph or two, what are the local attributes or business’s, where do people congregate and for what purpose… who provides the best value for eating out in the area, do locals offer a ‘special’ experience in their home or on their farm (eg, making you a refreshing sugar cane drink) or something like a ride on a cane train. What I want when I travel is a unique and special experience that cannot be obtained anywhere else.
Hope this helps. Love , light and happiness. Annie
Hi Annie,
Thanking you so much for your amazing suggestions – they all rock!! I have never thought about anything like that…and now I have heaps of great ideas for blog posts.
Will be exploring so many of your great ideas, and will have heaps to write about! You rock xx
Cheers
Lisa
I think you’re onto a winner blogging about your travels and life on the road. I love Annie’s suggestions above too. You are in a unique position to tell us all about the pros and cons, challenges, joys and interesting encounters of packing up a static life and being adventurous.
I think it’s normal to feel this way as you try and grow your blog – sometimes it feels like noone is out there or enjoying it as people don’t always comment. Keep following your path and the rest will follow. x

Hi Belinda,
Love the great feedback – I really needed to hear about suggestions/hints/tips and ideas about what New Life on the Road is all about (and what it could be doing in the near future!) I am so glad that what I am feeling is normal! I like that we have connected with so many other bloggers – and can share what our adventures are all about, and read about other bloggers journey’s.
Thanking you for the great tip about following my path.
Cheers
Lisa
I’m always more interested to hear what You are doing, how your family are coping, what adventures you find, how you adapt to each new surrounding. You and your family are unique, what are you dealing with day to day, where is your voice in all of this?
You are one of the most passionate wonderful women I’ve ever met and your blog will evolve. If you want advice about blogging and direction, advertising etc you know where to go! Go there, refocus and carry on….my hubby is a closet reader of my blog also and loves to get onto google analytics and tell me when people unsubscribe.
I am in the same boat, starting to get serious about my blog and seeing that this could be a career as well as a passion. Strip back everything to the basics and see what you come up with. Get a Blogging Buddy and set yourselves some goals then hold each other to them. Who is a mentor? For me it’s keeping off fb a bit and getting over my own voice telling me I’m really clueless with it all. sending love your way. x

Hi Lisa
When you ask should you be blogging about travel, family or both. In my opinion I would say both, you are traveling with four boys, plus hubby. They are all part of your travels.

Thanking you so much Kerry – you have made it sound so easy! And I was making it more complicated than what I needed it to be – I am loving the feedback that we are getting with regards what our readers would like to know. I like that “They are all part of your Travels” – so true!
Cheers
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
How are you and David going? Long time since I’ve seen you! I have a suggestion for the blog. I always wonder “Where are Lisa, David and the boys today?” Is there a way that you could add a widget or a small text box in the top of the side bar to tell us where you are today?
I’m sure your other regular readers would enjoy that too.
See you online!
Cheers, Bev

I think all of us go through stages of uncertainty, no matter how confident some may look on the outside. I hope you find you mojo and your sponsorship for Blogopolis ( maybe you have already?)
