If you follow our facebook page you would have seen that I wrote this a few weeks back ::
“I have spent the day caring for a family who are dealing with domestic violence. I have cared for the sweet little boy who is only two years old. I have made the mother lunch and a cup of coffee. I have cared for the Father. I have stepped in between them. I have listened to both sides tell their story.
No one is going to benefit from what went on today and now his family is caring for the sweet little man.
So whats the point of what went on between the two adults because no one comes out a winner.
Domestic violence lets our kids down”
After that day the Father took his son to his Parents for two days, and then returned back to the Caravan Park…..and all was very quite until the other night.
It was late, we were getting ready for dinner when we heard screaming.
It was from the sweet little boy who we thought was 2 years old {we later got told his real age}
David told me NOT to go outside and see what was going on, but I could not stay inside. He is only a tiny little one and to hear him screaming “No Daddy, I am sorry please Don’t Hurt me” – there was no way I was going to do nothing.
I raced over to find the owners of the Caravan Park already there, with the information that the police had been called. They asked me to go away and not to go into the Cabin because the situation was out of hand.
But I said I know them and that I was going in for the sake of the child.
David was behind me asking me not to go in. But I didn’t think twice.
In His Eyes
There was screaming.
Lots of screaming. And the swearing from both parents was incredible. The first thing that I noticed was the Alcohol bottles/cans laying around – there was enough for a BIG party. I am not sure how long they had been on the this drinking binge – like I said it was quite until that moment!
The mother was in the bed with the sweet little boy held in her arms. He was crying so much that his face was bright red.
She was screaming and swearing out things that didn’t make sense….and had their child in a death grip.
I tried to ask her if the young child had been hurt by his Dad, I asked her to give him to me to look at him – I tried to talk to her like I did last time but this time she was too far gone to understand what I was saying.
Yet She Knew.
She knew that things were out of control. She knew that the Police had been called. She was scared but at the same time she was so far out of it to actually know what was happening around her.
She told me to F**k Off and that she was the mother of her son and that no-one could be a better Mum than her.
The father was under the control of more than Alcohol. He actually fell off the Front Veranda onto the ground {it has three steps} and didn’t even feel it.
After not being able to help the little boy I went back to our Motorhome.
Within minutes Police arrived. There was unmarked Police Cars, The Police Dogs and the cabin was surrounded. They had the Dad in handcuffs. He was still screaming and swearing at the Police and the Caravan Owners.
And another young Police Lady had the sweet little boy in her arms.
I rushed on over and comforted him. I gave him a hug and started to talk about how much fun he has playing with Kyle. Hearing Kyle’s name calmed him down – so much so that the Police Lady asked if we could bring Kyle over to him.
David got Kyle and came over to the unmarked car. Then the police lady asked if we could get some books to read to the sweet little guy. So David went back to the Motorhome and grabbed the books that he had been reading to Kyle.
We then got asked to sit in the Unmarked Police Car with the little one.
So Kyle, Little Man and I hopped into the Back of the unmarked Car and we read the book “You Are Not My Mother” – Dr Seuss Book. We were locked in for our own safety.
It was a book that maybe I shouldn’t have read but it was in the pile of the books and the little one picked it out and asked me to read it. He actually held onto that book the whole time while I kept reading the rest of the books, and still had it when it was time for them to leave.
While we sitting there reading we couldn’t hear what was going on outside, because the Police Dogs were going off so much they made the scene outside disappear. And it helped because the little man couldn’t hear his Dad still screaming things or spitting on the Police Man {David was outside keeping an eye on us and could see/everything the father was doing}
The Police packed a bag of stuff for the little man, and when they were sorted they stepped into the back of the Police Car and both Kyle and I hopped out.
Because of the little boy size they actually needed a Baby Car Seat before they legally could leave.
They asked us if we had one but we said that our boys were all grown out of needing one and we never kept any.
David mentioned another family in the Caravan Park whose Grandchildren stayed over regularly and maybe they had one.
Which was perfect because they did.
While they were trying to fit the car seat the little boy became very upset – he realised he was going without his Mum or Dad in a Car that he did not know and started asking not to be taken anywhere.
Now this boy might be the size of an 18 month old, but he can talk in full sentences and he knows why more than any kid his age.
In actually fact the police revealed that he was 4 years of age?????
What?
How can that be possible? Well the Mum and Dad only give him formula Milk because they said he wont eat. Now I am not a Doctor, nor do I know his Medical History {he was born at least 6 weeks early} so I am not sure why they give him a bottle instead of food. But I do know that I have given him Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Apples and Bananas and it eats them.
Getting Him In The Car Seat
So I rushed back outside to assist getting him into his Car Seat. The Police officer did not know how to do it up – and I gave him another Kiss and an Apple.
He was still screaming when they drove off….I so wanted to go with them but there was nothing that I could do anymore.
The sweet little boy is now gone from his Mum and Dad and is in the car of those that can help.
The Father was held over night in the Police Cells and the Mother was left alone in her bed – High on Drugs and what ever else she was taking.
Now I have no idea how the sweet little boy is doing but can only imagine In His Eyes what he has seen over the short 4 year of his life…
Please let him get be safe where ever he is, and please let him be loved.
Now What’s Next?
What Will Become Of Him?
Not sure what can become of a sweet little one. Do know that his Parents are good people when they are sober, and to see them changed into something really out there was a bit of a shock.
Do know that the boy is very loyal to his Parents – and he was trying to protect his Mum from his Dad. How can he be so very small and yet so very brave?
Incredible what he has experienced, and he is so very cute. Our Kyle loved to play with him, and he adored Kyle. It was good to think that our little one was able to give another boy a lot of love, kindness, fun and time to be a kid.
Sure hope his future will be a bright one….
not sure that our resources in Australia, for children are enough.

So sad for all concerned. Thank goodness the little one was not hurt. Even though his home is not safe for him, he will be so lost without his Mum. So very sad. I am glad you did not get hurt Lisa.

I am so hoping that he is now being cared for, and being loved on. He is so very sweet, and so very brave for his age. Kyle loved playing with him, sure hope he finds how to be a child, and to grow up big and strong.
I didn’t even think about my safety, guess I was thinking about anything but the little one!
Oh dear, I was so sorry to read this story… and of course it’s a story that is told all over Australia every night. I was brought up in a home with alcoholism and domestic violence, but thank god we were never all separated and that my Mum wasn’t on the same self-destructive path that Dad was. Terrible to have both parents with addiction problems and the consequent appalling behaviour. I hope he is safe.

So very sorry that you have also been exposed to such an upbringing – cant imagine what you must have seen.
May this sweet little one stay safe, and forget what he has seen! Thanks Seana for sharing your childhood xxx
Oh, that is so heartbreaking. The poor little boy, what a horrible life to lead being scared to death of your own father and watching the effects of the alcohol and drugs. I know this stuff goes on, but it is just too horribly to think about.
I look at my son and can’t imagine how anyone could hurt such beautiful little creatures.
I hope so much that boy is found a safe place to live and his parents can get some help.

Heartbreaking stuff.
Years ago my friend 9 and her 3 younger siblings aged 2-7 were removed for 3-4 yrs because of alcoholism and DV.
They were returned later to mum & her step Dad (father of 1-2) and their mums stayed sober..apparently.
The children were very scarred from living in foster homes and separation from their family. As adults it really affected them and their relationships.
I hope this little boy has tremendous support and love to overcome his experiences.
