On the 18th of March this year David and I will have been married for 18 years. Two weekends ago we went for a drive to the very spot where David kinda of Proposed.
Actually it was not a real proposal – it was more of a conversation and it lead to the question “So Will you?” from David and me asking him “Will I what”?
I really wanted to hear the words, and I was not going to make it easy for him!
So in a car, with our older son in the back he let me know that he was moving from New South Wales to Queensland for work opportunities and if I wanted to go?
I then replied it depends on something….
He was not forth coming with his proposal and I sure hope that one day his Five Boys really get there act together and Romantically proposal to their gorgeous future wives!
He then says “So you want to or what?”
I knew what he meant but I still made him ask me! I made him ask me the words “do you want to marry me”.
It Started Here ::
We think this is the spot ~
not sure cause it has changed (trees have grown!)
At this very spot over 18 years ago…and it was raining on that day to! (wasn’t full on raining but it was a light shower, and cold)
We didnt want long between engagement and getting married….can’t remember if it was even five months? We do things fast in our family!
Or maybe It Started Here ? ::
We are not sure exactly where!
Time has meant the area has changed a bit 🙂
And that is the Beginning of our crazy adventure, and it keeps on changing….
Five sons later.
Our own house – sold a few years back.
An investment house – which we also sold!!
Too many cars too count….
too many animals (pets) to remember.
And now a Motorhome……sometimes I think its a dream, and then I realise its our way of life.
Can you remember your proposal?
How Did your better half ask you to be your Wife/Husband?
Would love to hear your stories…..
Thanking you for following our journey.
Cheers
Lisa
New Life on the Road.
Ha ha you crack me up Lisa. The general area where the “proposal” happened looks lovely anyway, even if you can’t remember exactly. Shane asked me to marry him at Jenolan Caves. We had the most fantastic 2 weeks holiday, the first week on his family boat with friends and the 2nd week traveling to the blue mountains. We had a beautiful meal in the restaurant at the hotel and when we went back to our room he asked me to marry him. We had only been going out for about 2 mths and I was only 19 and still at uni. 23 years later we are still together so it was definitely meant to be.
You do lead an interesting life Lisa, and I enjoy following your journey’s. I love adventurous folk who are not afraid to step out into the unknown as I am that way myself. Sandra & I met in a hotel beer garden just 40yrs ago, we courted for 6 months & this yr is 40 years married. Our baby boy is 30, & we have 15 grand children.
Life is not a rehearsal ….we are living it along the way and life is in fact what you decide to make it.Keep following your heart Lisa and you will never die wondering.

Lisa, congratulations on your anniversary. On February 20, 1959, my husband asked me to marry hime. We had been dating about 8 months. He was in his first year of college and I was a high school senior. We did not get married until 1961 since we wanted to get most of our college behind us. It has been a wonderful 51 years and we have been very blessed. We have 4 children, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. We have traveled many of those years and still have the desire to see many new places. We would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
Congratulations, Lisa.
Well … he took his time, but sure chose a beautiful spot to ask.
Just got to your blog from a blog list.
Your kids are indeed super lucky.
Travel is the best education one can get.
Good luck and safe travels!
