With our crazy travels from Wollongong to Queensland – after our Bedford Comair Motorhome broke down – we were all staving by the time Breakfast came around! And then we seen a Sign “Pancakes at Macadamia Castle”. Actually Nicholas had seen the sign 120k’s {on the side of the road} for the Castle Breaky and wouldn’t let us stop anywhere along the way.
He was keen to try the Pancakes and I was keen to see the Castle, it was on my “must see” list from when we went past it last time, yet I couldn’t remember where I had seen it but just wanted to make sure I didn’t miss it this time.
Funny how much “Signs” on the side of the road will draw you in and hold your attention. Nic was stunned that they had the sign so “Far” from the attraction, and was questioning why? Well it worked didn’t? Cause he was not letting us stop anywhere but that place for food. Smart marketing ideas from that very business.
When we stopped the Castle was still setting up, and opened their doors as we were waiting. Soon everyone was flowing in and the orders were coming in fast. Glad we placed our order when we did – and BOY was it worth the wait….INCREDIBLE is not the right word, but I am not sure any words would cover how yummy the food was, and how good the service was.
All of us so wished we had the time to stop into the Castle and explore the grounds, especially this groovy Playground.
Could only imagine how hot it would have been in the long dresses back then, the funny hair pieces and the lack of water in some villages! Could only imagine how Prim and Proper it would have been. Our styles sure have changed since then.
Nicholas seen this Skull in the Macadamia Castle, its a money box. He so wanted to buy it for his Brother {our second son} as a Christmas Pressie 🙂
Its all because of you that we stopped there for Breakfast and had so a yummy meal – the pancakes went down well. They hit the spot, thanks Nicholas – we are so glad you had seen the sign and asked us to stop!
While we were sitting down to Breakfast David was reading all about the Castle History – about the owners, and how many times it has changed over the years. The big blue statue used to be all White at one stage! So should have purchased the History Information Booklet cause the Macadamia Castle website doesn’t have any “About” information on their page!
All in all it was the best place to stop for Breakfast….we had seen the Castle when we drove down from the Sunshine Coast area to Wollongong, and I had it on my “Must See List” when headed back up north. Its now crossed off my list.
Have You Been To The Macadamia Castle?
Cheers
Lisa
New Life on the Road.
Such a great place to stop and it is always busy. Always. We regularly drive passed it, my parents live just down the road-ish, and it is great fun for the kids – lots of animals to play with and pat, mini golf, playgrounds and a tree house.
