Last night we decided that it was far too hot cook dinner inside the Motorhome yet our boys still wanted to eat a yummy meal. The next best solution is to cook outside, but what should we cook on?
Making Dinner Outside The Motorhome
David made a choofer at work. Actually he made most of it while on holidays and then finished it off at work. It still needs to be painted and have handles added to the outside of the choofer!
It works a treat…..
David cooked this yummy vegetarian spicey dish on the Choofer 🙂
This had the most yummiest smokey flavour
The door opens so that wood can be added as David is cooking
The wok held the most amazing flavour –
its now ready to be served with rice.
David loved cooking on this chinese meal. It must be the fire, the smell and the satisfaction of making something to cook outside the Motorhome with 🙂
Once all the vegetables were cooked, and the spicey flavours combined together, it was a matter of serving up the meal. Sitting down together and enjoying our dinner together.
Making Dinner Outside The Motorhome might now become the norm for our meals. The Wok now has the real look of a wok, even the handle has the “look”.
What Do You Like To Cook On Outside The Motorhome/Home?

wow, never heard of a choofer but I likey like it!! I can imagine it would be great for smoking fish on too or put a hood on the wok and cook a chicken in there. Still wondering what your hubby does for a living while you’re travelling round Australia!

Thats right – its perfect for cooking lots of dishes and for even doing casseroles/stews!
Hubby is really clever – his a Boat Builder by trade but he can easily build/repair/design caravans. At the moment he is working at fixing up Caravans that have been destoryed or need fixing through insurance jobs.
He can walk into any where and get a job doing basically anything that is to do with building/weilding/repairs.

That is COOL!

One thing about travelling around in a camper van like our family also does, I find cooking inside makes our clothes, sleeping bags and pillows smell like whatever for dinner. And I love to cook spicy food, curries, and Hungarian dishes, cabbage and loads of cauliflower.
Solution for us was to get an outdoor Coleman’s stove, gas cartridge insert variety, bought at Decathlon for 40Euros. And instead of getting the full camp Westfalia with the kitchen we decided on the California version, and plugged in a small refrigerator. Way more room to store stuff, and sleep.
We are very happy with our little set up!
Happy travels,
Eva

Hi Eva,
Its so true that our Motorhome does take on smells of what ever we are cooking!
I like the sound of your Colemans Stove and its so fantastic to have more storage space and room for sleeping!

I have no advice to offer you for cooking, but if I ever come visit you in Australia, I want whatever is in that wok for dinner.

Hi Steve,
If you come to Australia we would love to have you over for dinner. David cooks a fantastic curry and the most yummiest meals 🙂

That looks delicious. I’ve cooked over open fires when camping but that looks safer and more controlled.

Hi Tania,
It was so yummy 🙂 When ever Dave takes a turn with cooking we ask him to use the Choofer!

We also rebel against sleeping with a curry smelling pillow – and cook most meals outside when we travel in our caravan. Either we plug in our electric frypan or use our Weber Baby Q. The Baby Q cooks the best steaks ever! I really like the look of David’s choofer. Not only does he build the stove, but then he cooks on it – very handy!

Hi Jan,
It sure makes sense to cook outside so that the smells don’t become too much inside! The Baby Q sounds like a great way to cook 😉
