Yesterday we took off for the day! Well not the whole day cause I was lucky enough to have a sleep in – David took our boys outside of the motorhome quietly so that I could catch up on much needed sleep. Which was good but not good cause I really wanted to go out exploring another place, which we will have to do another time.
Norval Park Yandaran ::
To get to Norval Park Yandaran you drive from Bundaberg, taking the exit that takes you on the Mt Perry Road. Heading out to 1770, on the way you will pass Avondale Pub which is on the right – they have Free Over Night Camping there with Toilet facilities.
Drive past Joe’s Roadhouse – which is on the left – and has the best Sausage Rolls ever {According to David!}. Oh and they also make their own Cream Buns every Sunday! But they are not open on Saturdays and they don’t sell Cigarettes – which doesn’t worry us at all!
Keep going to you come to the Right Hand Turn for Yandaran. Take the turn off. You will come to a little cute town where there is a Pub and Corner Shop/Petrol Shop.
Go over the Train Station and take a Left Hand turn. Keep driving until you come to unsealed road…..
Our Campervan handle this road no worries – it wasn’t until later on that we got bogged!
Actually I am not sure how safe it is to drive over but you can see that many others have before! Drive past the wonderful Salt Lakes and keep going. You will come to a “V” intersection – stay on the right. Drive and drive to you come to this….
We will not say much about the Rules….but lets just say that we can’t wait to return!
We did drive down one track that was not mentioned as needing a 4WD and we did get bogged! David jumped out and was about to start shoveling the sand out but another wonderful Camper – who had all of the recover gear with him – stopped and was so kind to help us out!
You can’t see but the other side of the Campervan is bogged down to its Axles! When the other Camping Guys helped us out they damaged a bit on their Camper trailer so to say thanks {and sorry} David is going to fix it for them sometime this week!
The beach is literally just there – Norval Park Yandaran camping spots are right on the beach. With many to chose from, I can’t wait to spend time back there, chilling out, reading, relaxing, breathing in the fresh air and grounding myself walking on the beach front.
It made me wished I had thought to bring our big double hammock – but that’s in a tree near our Motorhome! We will be returning for at least a weekend of camping, if not longer if we can manage it with our situation at the moment!
Even though we have seen a fair bit of Bundaberg over the years, there is still way more out there for us to explore and we can’t wait.
Have You Been To Noval Park Yandaran?
Is there any other camping grounds you love?
Cheers
Lisa
