Orbost and Bairnside Victoria

After our very quick stop at Bega Cheese And Eden we drove over the border into Victoria staying for the night at Snowy River Orbost Camp Park…for our family it was $30.00 a night. It was so very cold, and it rained but we had access to the BBQ area for cooking our dinner as well as Hot Showers.

Crossing Over From New South Wales to Victoria

The next morning {Thursday 24/10} David made pancakes, trying to warm up at the same time as cooking! None of our boys were helping out – we all were so very cold and no one was keen to move! Even with the promise of  “As soon as we get on the road the sooner we can see more places, stop more along the way”

So it was a late start to the day but we still made a stop at Bairnside Victoria ~ Just past “Lucknow” {yes there is a town with that name} ~ because there was a HUGE slide calling out to us all….

So glad we had seen the Slide driving through “Lucknow” and turned around in Bairnside to take the time to have some fun.

Even David had a go on the slide….mind you he did that when I was in the Campervan so that I couldn’t take a photo!! And yes I had a go as well – twice. It was so much fun.

Have You Stayed At Snowy River Orbost Camp Park?

Have You Stopped At Bairnside Slide?

Highly recommend stopping and having heaps of fun.

What a misconception I’ve had that Australia is never cold, Lisa! I got chilled just looking at the picture of David cooking pancakes. Wow, on the Protected Aboriginal Site…that had to be fascinating! Loved the pictures of Cameron and Kyle…how fun on the slide! 🙂

It was beyond cold!! And we are so not used to it – Up North {Queensland} its warmer but the more you go South the colder it gets.
The slide was so much fun 🙂

Have only stopped at the park in Orbost, opposite caravan park, but this is on our list to stay longer. The park at Bairnsdale is one of my favourite. The big yellow slide just draws you in. I rode down it three times. The last I videoed!! Highly recommend both towns as ones to stay at.
