We went on our first Family Cruise on the P And O Cruise Pacific Jewel, for our second son’s 21st Birthday Celebration. It was for only four nights but we loved it! He is not a kid that likes a big fuss so I knew that I couldn’t organise a Party for him – yet I did let the Cruise ship know about his Birthday and they gave him a cake at dinner time and sang Happy Birthday to him!
We are now hooked on cruises and I am looking at so many different cruise lines and deals. I am looking at “Best Cruise Deals and Cruises with Ozcruising” {Hit the hi-lighted words and it will take you there}. But if you have a better website to check out, let us know {and I am not getting paid to promote them, just looking cause I want to go on another cruise}.
David and I never had a honeymoon when we got married because we already had our oldest son Hayden and we were moving from NSW to QLD so we didn’t get a chance to celebrate our marriage. Now I am looking and working out how we can pull off a seven night cruise – who can take our younger two boys for a week is the biggest issue!
And we are thinking that every time one of our sons turns 21 we will go on a cruise to celebrate his Birthday!
Leaving Sydney – yes even though Brisbane is closer to Bundaberg we still drove down to Sydney cause that is where our family is living – and it was magical saying goodbye to the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge!
When I was younger my Grandma would take me to the Markets in those very buildings! Not sure if they still have markets or if they are all turned into apartments now days?
When I was younger we used to catch the Sydney Ferry to see my Aunty and Cousin – and to go over to Manly. Such fond memories!
Kyle was either doing two things – either on one of the activities or eating Chocolate Cake!!!
Can you see the “Face” on the side of the Cliff?
The only thing he was upset about was not being able to do flips/jump higher and do tricks!
We got “Gold Passes” for both boys for their Xmas Pressies. Cameron didn’t use it much but Kyle sure made up for that! Kyle didn’t stop going on the activities!
They are different personalities even though they are from the same family! Kyle will try anything and do anything – Cameron would rather read a book or play computer games!
Funny enough I didn’t take that many pics of the Cruise ship – I normally take heaps of pictures of what we are doing and where we are going. But this time I was so in the moment that I took my camera around with me, and kept forgetting to take pics!!!
But we do have a few more pictures of the sunset, night time partying and a few other moments which I will share over the next few weeks!
We also have hints and tips on what to take on a cruise. Which we had known about before hand, it would have saved us heaps of money every day!
Our First Family Cruise on the P And O Cruise Pacific Jewel was a great time, now we are looking forward to trying the Carnival Cruise and the Royal Caribbean Cruise line – not sure when but soon I hope!
We didn’t get paid to go on the cruise, nor did I get paid to write this blog post. We saved up very hard to pay for our family to go on the cruise, saved up very hard to make the journey to Sydney possible and then saved as much money as possible to afford the Moreton ‘Island Tour Packages, the Gold Passes, the Ice-Creams, a massage and the photos that we purchased. David and I worked damn hard in the last six months to make our family trip possible 🙂
We have heard that some cruises include the activities on board, the ice-creams and a few other packages that come include with the cruise cost – we are keen to see if those cruises are worth it!

New Life on the Road.
I’ve been on 5 cruises – 3 have left from Brisbane and there is nothing like the feeling of sailing under the Gateway Bridge and enjoying the sailaway party! The other two left from Venice and La Spezia in Italy. I’d love to do a cruise that leaves from Sydney – that would be amazing too!
Oh it was the best!!! I so have the cruise bug now 🙂
5 cruises….how amazing that would be! What was your favorite cruise?
