Today I took Zachery, Cameron and Kyle with me to the Mackay Show grounds as there was the QME Mining (Expo) on! Or as its been called on the Radio “Queensland Mining and Engineering Expo“.
The website stated that it was NOT open to the public, yet the radio was advertising it all week-long, encouraging every one to turn up! So we went along, filled out the paper work when we got there and entered into a world of big things!
My Entry Badge ~
I chose the “Media” category (and IT as sub-category) as that was the only one that fit my job description!
QME Mining
It is huge – with lots of tents inter-locking with each other, and lots to see. The QME Mining is not for recruitment into the mining industry (not as much as some expos that are tailored for those needs!), its more catered for the business side of the mining. With lots of big machines, lots of different stands promoting their products and lots of displays for different companies who can provide services.
Yet we really enjoyed the morning, and we did connect with two companies that are recruiting for the mines! I even filled out the paperwork with one of them and left my details to find out more. I have a secret desire to drive Trucks. Always have! Yet I never expected to actually take a step forward in that direction.

sorry about the quality of the photo, it was taken on my phone!
Motorhome ~ For Office Meetings?
YES…. a gorgeous Motorhome decked out to the MAX, sleeps six and is used only for Office meetings~!! LOVE it.
When I got home and told David that I am expecting a Call from “x,y,z” company to discuss my opportunities in the mining industry he nearly fell over! He never knew I was going there with that in mind, and didn’t realise that I was looking for the opportunity to enter the Mining World. Yet my thoughts are to see what happens!
If its meant to be, its meant to be!
If it’s not meant to be, then so be it.
Cameron (and Kyle) scored these Caps ~
from one of the stands! They both were over the moon as they reckon it looks like Army Colours!
While At The QME Mining Expo ::
I also connected with a stand who sells them most amazing little T-Shirt for kids whose parents are in the mines working away! They also have supports systems set up for families. If you are in need of support, or know a family that needs to connect with other families (who work away) then pop on over to Mining Family Matters.
Did you see the cute T-shirts for Kids? I want the one that says “My Dad Things I’m Ore-Some” or even “My Mum’s a Miner and She Rocks” !!!
Can you imagine me driving a TRUCK?
What a blast that would be!
Cheers

New Life on the Road.
Sorry. My mind got stuck on the motorhome. That’s awesome. Did you ask how much?
Hi Kaye,

Yeah Jan it would be a huge challenge thats for sure!
Haha, I often say to Matt that when we hit mining country I’ll try and get a job driving the trucks. I think I could definitely handle it, and they apparently like women as we’re much better drivers lol 🙂 Good luck!!
