Queensland Heritage Park

After we stayed overnight at Calliope Free Camp we headed to a very special place. You see we wanted to stop into where David’s Dad grew up. But before that we thought we would see if the information centre at Biloela to see if there was any information about his family in that area.

The lovely lady in Queensland Heritage Park had a history book on all of the families in the surrounding area of Biloela and also took David through the Museum to see if the “Wood” family was up on the wall with information and pictures.

Unfortunately we didn’t have the time to stay and search and from the short time we were there the lady and David couldn’t find any information on the his Grandparents. But I reckon after we know more information if we went back we would find the family property history information.

The Queensland Heritage Park also has overnight camping {not sure on fees etc}.

After we had lunch at the Queensland Heritage Park we headed to the most important part of our trip – to see David’s Grandparents Family Home.

The Wood Family Farm

THIS IS WHERE DAVID’S DAD GREW UP UNTIL HE WAS 9 YEARS OLD. A DAIRY FARM.

Davids Grandparents Home

THE HOUSE IS ALMOST FALLEN OVER AS ITS NOT USED ANY MORE, ONLY THE LAND IS USED FOR FARMING

I so wished the owners of the property had shown up while we were there, and let us get close enough to have a look at the old Farm House. Such a pity its no longer being used, only the land is being used by cattle/horses?

We now have a Picture of the Wood Family Farm in a photo frame for David’s Mum who has a Birthday coming up.

Would love to buy this family farm and restore the house for future generations – its down a dirt road and its so peaceful and remote, perfect place to escape the rat race to. Would make an ideal Farm Stay Holiday BnB.

Have You Been To Biloela?

Have You Seen The Queensland Heritage Park?

Cheers
