When we had to stay parked at David’s Work because we had broken down wanted a change of scenery, Cameron, Kyle and I would go off exploring the Oak Flats {Wollongong New South Wales} surrounding area as much as possible, as well as exploring more of Sydney {that’s when we were staying with our oldest son}!….only because we couldn’t have Kyle playing outside in the industrial area because so many big trucks would come flying down the street!
On one of our walks we found a “Walk way”and a information board that explained what the area was all about. Guess you could say that I am homeschooling myself alone with our two boys!
Save Our Saltmarsh :: Saltmarsh occur on the intertidal zone on the shores of estuaries and lagoons. They are communities of succulents, rushes and low shrubs that can tolerate salty soil and occasionally being swamped by salt water. Between the patches of vegetation are salt pans.
Saltmarshes are endangered ecological communities. We need your help to save them from disappearing… ..Please don’t drive on saltmarsh!
Both Cameron and Kyle were spun out that there was such a big boat in someone’s backyard! And then {right hand corner} there was a Fire Pit set up…both boys LOVED this backyard!
This walkway lead to a Playground…actually it lead to two playgrounds! Which Kyle loves so very much….I reckon that we could easily travel Australia from Playground to Playground.
We Loved Our Walk ::
It was a perfect day for a walk, and a great way to discover what’s around us. Actually I can’t wait for more days like that one.
Now that we are back in the Caravan Park {boo!!} we have been exploring other areas but still can’t wait to get back to the Oak Flats area to see what other treasures are waiting.
There are so many other blog posts to catch up on! From Carrington Falls, to Kiama Markets, to Quirky Cow Teas, to how to we got our Motorhome fixed, will have to try and find time before we head off for our long weekend camping trip!
Yep we are heading off this weekend for a trip and to spend family quality time together. A weekend with a big surprise for David – its his Birthday on Saturday and we all have a surprise waiting for him.
