On Fathers Day we were able to celebrate the day with both David and his Dad! It was special even though all of our boys were not able to be with us {insert sad face here!!}
And we wanted to all get out of David’s parents house so we headed to Smiths Crossing Fishing on Fathers Day was the general idea- which by the way is no longer a crossing – the last floods 2 years ago destroyed the bridge that badly that the council decided it was not worth trying to fix it. So the people on the other side of the creek can no longer meet the School bus in the mornings or the afternoons and have to find another way home.
As soon as we got out of the car our baby {who will always be my baby even though he is now 10} ran off down to the creek with his fishing rod and tackle kit. He lives for fishing!
And another wonderful family gave him a bag of bait when they were leaving so he was able to catch the big one…
Yep after this picture was taken he fall into Smiths Crossing and had to fish out his fishing rod!
See to the right hand side at the corner? Its a new Island that has been created due to so many trees pushed over, ripped out and pushed down stream till it couldn’t go anymore. That must have been one very big flood, imagine how strong the current would have been!
We looked over the grass and thought it was Butterflys, but looking closely we could see they were birds. I thought they were Honey eaters but after looking at a Bird Book we think its Chestnut Breasted Mannikin Birds.
Still can’t believe the council decided that the bridge had to go, and that they are not planning on building another one. Those living on the other side would have a longer ride into Bundaberg, and getting their children to and from School would be really interesting. I guess the money to make a new Bridge would cost too much?
We love spending our day at Smiths Crossing Fishing on Fathers Day, was so good to have a picnic lunch there, and to sit in the sunshine. Hope you all had a wonderful Fathers Day, spent with loved ones, with Burnt Breakfast in Bed, Cold Coffee/Teas and Great Homemade Cards. Yep this year Kyle and Cameron made the Best Home Made Fathers Day Cards ever! Happy Fathers Day to my Dad, where ever you are.
Where Did You Spend Fathers Day?
Cheers
Lisa
New Life on the Road.
haha, he is a real fisherman!
I think this a beautiful post, great to see children playing and discovering outside than slumped in front of the television and social media for a change.
