Getting on the road is exciting, and its all I have wanted to do since June last year! I have had a dream of showing our boys all there is to Australia -I have had that dream for so long! All I want is Life on the Open Road to hurry up and come true.
Its amazing what happens when you have a dream , a vision, and a why. If your why is big enough, strong enough then it will come true. The dream will become a reality yet we still have So Much To Do So Little Time in which to get it all done!
Always So Much To do So Little Time
We have 27 days left to get our family on the road. Only 27 days! That is OK for me, as we are ready. We have the shipping container sorted, we have the clothes sorted (what to take, and what we can store, or what we can give away) and we have an idea of what we will need while travelling!
Its the rest of the things that still need to be done with Rose The Lifestyle Challenge Bus! I am amazed with how long everything takes when getting a Motor-home ready. It doesn’t look like it will take that long, but its the smaller things that are so fiddly that take the longest! Do you ever feel like there is So Much To Do So Little Time available?
Here is the list of what needs to still be done!
- Brakes re-done
- Two new tyres sorted out
- Put the dash in the bus back together!
- Speedo is in getting serviced
- Front cupboards finished off
- Front Springs re-set
- Cupboards under the lounges to be finished off
- Maybe (if there is time) build a new cupboard in front of the boys bunk-beds for extra storage
- Fix the Roof Racks
- Fix the inside of the boot to make sure its strong enough to carry everything!
Sounds So Easy!
It all sounds so easy yet every job is either a small job, and takes a lot of time, or a big job that still takes a lot of time! Either way we are going to be on the road in 27 days (not that I am counting or anything!)
It just seems like a dream, and once it becomes real then I will feel like it was all worth it. David is still pulling some crazy hours – going to bed way past 12pm every night and getting up way too early just so that it can all be finished. He knows that there is So Much To Do So Little Time left and he is almost running out of steam.
Its been over 6 months of crazy hours – lets hope that once we are on the road, we can have some times of rest!
Someone Needs To Pinch Me!
Once we drive out of our road, and turn either left for south, or right for north – maybe then it will feel like its real. At the moment it feels like Ground Hog Day, where we get up every morning and have the same routine every day! What would be your dream that came true, where you would need someone to pinch you to make sure its true?

New Life on the Road
Cant believe there is such a little amount of time left before you go! Definitely agree that if your why is big enough you can make anything happen! And yes i always feel as though there is so much to do so little time!
Hello Tegan,
Its amazing how quickly time does fly! We are so looking forward to getting on the road – yep too much to do, but it will get done! So glad that we are not the only one with too much to do and so little time ๐
Cheers

yay for 27 days ๐ Ive been watching your site with interest for the past couple of months. We too are in Bundaberg and are travelling Australia with four boys, 5, 3 & 18mth old twins. We stopped in Bundaberg at Easter, my hubby has found work here on a local farm so we are here earning money until approx october, i too am counting down the days! When will you decide on your direction?
Hello Meilissa,
Wow – we would love to meet up for coffee? I came into town at least once a week. We are hoping to head to South Australia, but I keep saying that once we head down the road we will soon decide!! We could turn left to go South or go right to head North. Hubby would like to head up to Mackay, but we have lived there many years ago, and I am keen to show our boys a part of Australia that we have never been to before!! Where ever we go, I will be so happy as we have worked towards this for so many months.
You are amazing to be travelling with your family – I love having our boys with us…..and showing them the real parts of Australia. So wished we had travelled when our kids where that age – your boys will have the best future (and education!)
Cheers

I am sure everything is going to fall into place and you are going to set out on time and with no problems. Feel free to head west at some stage ๐
Hello Simon,

Rose! What a gorgeous name for the bus! LOVE the Family feature! You are the super-organised, highly efficient Mum! Somehow, I think you know how to handle having so much to do so little time. It’s all fun isn’t it.
Hello Lina,
Not sure if we are going to be ready for getting on the road but we will be trying!! So looking forward to travelling.
Cheers

Gosh Lisa, you must be getting so exciting. The closer it gets, I’m sure the more it feels that there is so much still to do.
The adventures you’ve had over the last year or so have been amazing in themselves, just imagine what you have to look forward to.
As Lina says, you do have a natural ability to handle all things that come your way :).
Hi Hilary,
So amazing that we are able to share our journey with everyone ๐
We are excited, at the same time if kinda feels like a dream! I guess once we head down the road – it will seem more real!

Frantic action at the Wood [mobile] home ! Sounds like when we bought a caravan years back when my flying contract in Cairns finished. What to take, where to pack it, what to give away – the important thing was we took our senses of humor with us. The treasures we did take were our pets, a Shi-Tzu, Border Collie, and 2 Persian cats. Not much else mattered.
Suggestion – set a goal of only a short distance on the 1st day’s drive. Boosted !!!!
Cheers
Harry
Thanks Harry….like your suggest of the first day goal only travelling for a short distance! Will keep that in mind!
I am sure that it will be trial and error for the first couple of weeks, but Iam so looking forward to everything. Our boys are getting excited thats for sure ๐
Cheers
Lisa
Not long to go now Lisa – How exciting!! So much to do so little time is one of my favorite phrases, I’m always saying it!!
Thanks for sharing the journey so far!
Hi Bev,
Its crazy how much is still left to do! I am trying so hard not to think about it…..I am just focusing on getting on the road ๐
