Got your attention right? Well that’s what I was aiming for!!! For real, The Bolt That Stopped The Nation is what’s going on in our Motorhome with the back springs.
Thanking you universe for providing easier front springs for David to Work on, damn these back ones {wish I could say more words but I am trying very hard to be polite here!!!}
We had the front of the Motorhome on a lean last week while he worked on the Front Springs – they were easier to get out which was so good!
I should have taken a “Before” photo of how bad the springs were!!! Compared to the “New” Springs you wouldn’t even recognise it. Once the Front Springs were put back in we had to take the Motorhome back to Illawarra Springs, and the guy was able to determine what repairs the back ones needed. But gee David was not expecting the back bolts to be so hard!
The Bolt That Stopped The Nation ::
How can one small bolt be holding up the repairs to our springs? Well cause it is…..David tried for ages yesterday with all of the tools that he had to undo the bolt but it was a waste of a day.
He spent all day yesterday under there, trying every tool he has, as well as using lots of Bolt Buster Spray, and then started to ask around to see who had a tool he could use!!
Today He Got This One Out.
So he rang around to see if he could hire a tool that would help…..hiring one cost as much as buying one {he got a quote for a day and it cost over $400.00 which is what he could pay for the tool}
So he went back onto eBay and found a seller in Kiama who was willing to sell him one with Pick Up instead of postage and even agreed to meet David at his warehouse around 8.30pm last night – what a fantastic guy.
Thanks sent out to Australian Online Car Parts for coming to our rescue 🙂
Now David is under there, under the back of our Motorhome. And he is straining with all his might to get it the four bolts off. One is already off but he is struggling with the other three – for every turn of the bolt he has to turn the Torque Multiplier 64 times! Yeah nuts I am telling you 🙂
After spending three hours on one bolt, and two hours on the other he finally got one spring out…..now he is back under the motorhome trying to get the other two bolts out for the next spring!!!
There is no way anyone can lift this Spring – its bigger and heavier than the front ones. The front ones David and I was barely able to lift and move together, the back ones are on a Pulley System that David has rigged up with the use of our Bumper Bar and good old Pulley Ropes!
There is no way at all for anyone to pick these Springs Up so he is working out a Pulley System to lift them from the ground and into a Trailer to take around to the Spring Guy. We transported the Front ones in our Campervan but we couldn’t transport the back ones because they would break our Campervan so we are lucky enough to be able to borrow a trailer from another mate through work.
Fingers are crossed he gets the other spring out today because we need them worked on by tomorrow and back in by the weekend!! Yeah its full on crazy here at the moment and we have little time for anything.
Bedford Comair Motorhome – You are so going to have everything “New” by the time David is finished with you!! “New Life” is given to this old girl, she so better get us up north when its ready to go !!!!
Please Send David Some Much Needed Positive Thoughts.

Yeah those Bolts are HUGE pain in the backside but are now out and the springs are being fixed 🙂
Gosh David has done so much work on your bus, he must know it inside out. I never knew the springs would be so heavy!

Yeah the springs sure took me by surprise…..he sure has worked on nearly EVERY single part of this bus that’s for sure 😉
Oh, Lisa!!! What a hassle!
I remember when we had a flat tyre after seeing the GP when the boys were teeny tiny. I was in the car breast feeding the two of them while Euan was totally struggling with the bolts. Finally a random stranger walked by and it took the both of them to finally unscrew them!
I hope everything’s working out for you guys. Sending lots of positive vibes!

Oh how cool is that a random stranger helped you out – why are bolts done up so hard???
Yeah its a pain in the biggest back side, David had to buy new ones cause he put so much strain on the other ones that he is worried about how weak they would be and don’t want them to fall off while we are driving.
Gosh I am so glad you guys got help with the flat tyre,…what a fantastic Mum you are breastfedding two in the car while on the side of the road, perfect 🙂
