The most famous Lounges in Australia are about to be ready for Rose! The Lounges that took three weeks to build and that is just the frame work! The Lounges and their cushions have to meet the safety requirements of Queensland Transport to pass inspection. So David has been hard at them to make sure they do pass!
The Lounges
There was a big debate between David and I – do we re-build the lounges so that they are the same shape but with seat belts so that we can drive around Australia with five boys wearing seat belts? Or do we take them out and put in seats that face forward and have no storage space and no dinning area? There were many positives and many negatives to each one…and after asking a few families who are in Motorhomes travelling with their families, we soon decided to re-build what was already there. Just more detailed so that we could add seat belts and travel with the bus registered to carry seven!
Here is the Vlog of how the Lounges were made – see how each piece are wielded together for strength!
The Lounges Are Almost Ready
Since the vlog was made the cushions have been made and clued to the wood. David has made the cushion covers for the seats, all he needs to do is make the cushion covers for the back of the Lounges and bolt them to the frame work. According to the safety rules the lounges have to be strong enough to hold up in an accident (which we will never ever test out!!). The boys have all chosen their own seats for travelling even though they are yet to be finished off!
Travelling With Five Boys
I would have preferred Coach Seats so that every boy was facing the front, and they could also be separated while driving (if they decide to have a discussion then I need to separate them!!). Cameron – our fourth boy also gets car sick so he will need to seat facing forward. Which means that Kyle (our youngest) who is still in a Booster seat also needs to face forward for the seat belt to reach over his seat. So its going to be fun trying to work out who is sitting where on the lounges!
Keen To Move Into the Bus
We are that keen to move into Rose, that much that I have decided we will move in even though the bus is not registered, not completely finished nor can she be fully packed as yet. It has taken us three weeks to find out how to register Rose and the rules of what we have to do to past inspection, all of which I will be revealing next time at New Life on the Road. Until then we are super excited because we are so close to getting on the road and travelling full time around Australia! The Lounges sure will never be changed after David has spent so much time getting them ready!

Amazing the different obstacles that arise when trying something new. They are all a part of this experience.. Keep going and before you know it the road trip will be under way…
