In the last few years I have seen The Power of the Internet helping others from all walks of life. From across Australia to even across the World. So is there any community spirit left within us?
The Power of We :: Bringing Everyone Together
There has been a few online bloggers who have had their life turned upside down, spun around in three degrees and changed forever more. From their new life there has been love, support, friendship, a sense of connection and even long-term friendships formed.
From the deepest of upheavals has been transformations. Would those families like to turn back the time to the life they used to have? Of course they would – without a doubt. Yet with the Support of people reaching out to them they have been able to feel like they are not alone.
And after all that is all we all want……to feel like we are not alone. To feel like “We” belong to another person, another group, another community. All three families who we follow online (and through giving our support) have taught us more than anything or anyone could ever teach us.
From those families I have learnt that life is far too Short. It’s very fleeting and It Only Takes A Moment for everything to change.
I have learnt that from them that there is love, there is hope and there is a way forward.
I have learnt that you need to be true to yourself no matter what comes from bearing your soul to the world. Even if it attracts those that do not show kindness, it still teaches us all about how chosing to be kind so that we will overcome whatever does happen in life. It also teaches us all about showing love.
Maybe you are wondering who has taught our family so very much in the last few years? Actually it might have been only in the last 12 months that they have had a huge impact on our family – each and every one of the Woody Family member has been touched by the three families. There is not a day that doesn’t go by that we don’t either think about them, share our thoughts on their amazing journey/love and send our love their way.
From Sparkling Adventures, to Our Sonny Life, to The Kings we have seen The Power of We :: The Power of the Internet. And we have seen families that think deeply, share from the heart and make this world a better place. Saying thanks to them sounds so silly – saying we love them fits so well, yet knowing that we are thinking of them every day from afar is all we have to give.
Will It Help Them?
Of course if I could change back time then I would in a heartbeat. If I could say something/anything that would make their life easy then gee I so would shout it from the roof tops.
Could I wrap my arms around them and take their pain away? Not really….that kinda pain never goes away but we have shown our support online, would gladly show it to them offline and we love to continue supporting them.
That is what our society needs more of – it needs more families reaching out to support other families.
It needs more love, and to set aside our differences and learn to accept. After all we are all different – and I am sure there are plenty of things that make us all unique. But the one thing that we all have the same is a heart.
It breaks and it shatters.
But with support and love it can slowly mend. It can be placed back together, bit by bit, never forming a true shape again but a different shape. One where memories of their loved ones can wrap them up and hold them together.
How Can They Stay So Strong?
I ask that question many times. I ask many more but I am not asking them. Because that is not something that I think they could answer.
How can their world go on? It does. It does because of The Power of We. We all support them. We all love them. We all feel for them. We all wish we could do more.
A Bit Of Who They Are ::
* please note that their story is not mine to tell…this is only sharing a bit of who they are.
Sparkling Adventures family has had our support from day one. They lost their gorgeous baby son, and their family has also lost out on a Dad/Husband in their day-to-day life. With the Power of We a community got together and they have “The Gifted Gypsy” because of that support. And it’s not about the money (never has been) ~ it’s about pulling together and helping a family in need.
Our Sonny Life family lost their gorgeous Baby Trek. We supported them with purchasing their Tattoo’s, T-shirts, Trek Beach Ball and a book about the brothers. Now we are also supporting Baby Trek Daddy ~ he is writing a book “Following After Trek” (please find our about the book) to share their story of baby loss.
The Kings ~ Lisa King lost her gorgeous son and then less than a year later her best friend/husband/soul mate. His heart was too broken and he left to be with their son. With a community of support (gorgeous Naomi from Seven Cherubs organised the fundraiser – how amazing is that!) Lisa was able to have a headstone for her son as well as be financially at ease. With that support Lisa and her three sons know they are not alone.
This could have been your family.
This could have been your journey.
This could be you. They are everyday people living a everyday life. One that is changed.
Yet they still smile. They still live big, They still seek adventures and fun loving times.
What Can You Do?
Sometimes life gets in the way. There is only so much time in the day ~ and life is busy. We seem to lose more of the community feeling that our Grandma’s and Great Grandma’s had before us. Remember the good old days when there was family/neighbours support? Well its still there but its different.
You can also give time, give money or give with love. New Life on the Road has given to their favorite charity – World Vision with buying gifts. Its the smaller things that make all the difference.
Yet the online world is now making it possible to gain back that once trusted community of like-minded people. People helping people from the kindness of their heart. What can you do? Simply let them know that you read their story. Your read their heart-felt blog posts. And accept them for who they, for who they are going to be, and forever more let them know they are not alone.
Sometimes I don’t comment on their every blog post.
Sometimes I don’t jump onto there facebook page and leave a comment.
Sometimes I am so busy with renovating our Motorhome, homeschooling, raising FOUR crazy headstrong determined boys. And trying to stay sane.
Yet my thoughts are with the three gorgeous families.
After all they are you, you and you. They are a Mum/Dad with the best interest of their own kids in their heart. And they are living a life that they never thought was going to be there’s. It only takes a moment and life can be so messed up.
It only takes a moment to let them know you care.
That to me is The Power of We :: The Power of the Internet.
Sparkling Adventure, Our Sonny Life and The Kings Family ~ please know that we all care for you.
And for many other families out there that need our love. For many people’s whose life is now different.
What Have You Done Today To Show Someone You Care?
Do You Think the Community Spirit is Lost In Our Busy Life/Style?
Cheers
Lisa
