We have had a full bus for the last few weeks….there are seven of us sleeping in a Motorhome when really its only meant for four! Yep There Were Seven in the Bed And The Little One Said Don’t Move!
Sleeping In Is Not Going To Happen
If one of us moves, then nearly all of us are awake….its that simple! If we move about while we any of our boys are asleep in our Motorhome then we guaranteed to wake them up. Yep we have a queensize bed for David and I plus the bunk beds. Our older son returned home from the navy so we had to make more bed space.
Our Oldest Son is using our bed for watching a DVD on his Computer!
We tried to have our baby in our bed. But seen as how Kyle is seven years old and is nearly as big as me, that wasnt going to work. I never realised how much a child could move in bed and accidently roll over and hurt one of us 🙂
Our youngest Son Kyle sleeping on a air mattress!
Our oldest is sleeping in Kyle’s bed. Kyle is now on a air mattress. Nicholas is still on top bunk. Zac and Cameron are still sleeping on the lounges. We still need to make a trailer with bunk beds for our older two boys!
Nicholas sleeping on top bunk!
Its very tight, and we all have to remember each others feelings over the lack of space but for the short time frame its working.
Cameron sleeping on one lounge 🙂
I keep on thinking about families who had three generations all living in two bedroom homes. Or even families who are living (this very moment – today) in one house together because they can’t afford to live in separate houses. Then there are those families who choose to all live together so that the Grandparents can be looked after, or the Grandparents can look after the Grandchildren so that the parents can work.
Our son Zachery – never realised till now that he actually sleeps with his gun!
We are very fortunate to have a roof over our head. Warm places to snuggle down into beds and our Motorhome on wheels. It might not be ideal for every family but for us its working. Yet I wouldnt like to have to have our youngest sleeping on a air mattress long term. Its too hard for David to walk around without walking on top of him. Or one of his brothers forgetting that he is there and standing on him in the middle of the night!
There Were Seven In The Bed And The Little One Said – shh…please be quiet!
Have you ever had to share bedding arrangements before?
Cheers
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Oh Yes I was one of 7 and at one stage my sister had to share a bed boy was that fun we had to sleep with on of at the foot and the other the head of the bed both, of us would be at some stage kicked by the other 🙂 as well as that we had a friend of Mums, daughter sharing our room as well.
My 5 brothers shared a room as well. 2 bunks and a single bed in one room, could you imagine that in the size bedrooms homes have today ?

Hi Rita,
That sounds like so much fun – sharing with so many family members! Not so sure about being kicked in the head though! I love how families used to do whatever they had to – be it sleep all in the one house, and help each other out in any which way!
Thanks for sharing your family situation.
Cheers

We get creative with sleeping arrangement whenever we check into a hotel, although nowhere near as creative as you guys. We’ve all taken our turn sleeping in chairs, on tables, or in bathtubs before, although usually it’s only for one night. I can’t imagine doing it on an ongoing basis. It sounds like a lot of fun, but I imagine it has it’s tense moments.

Hi Steve,
I guess its a matter of sleeping whenever and wherever you can when travelling! Thanks for sharing your amazing moments of where you and family have slept.
Cheers

For a time when I was a kid my two sisters and I had to share a bed – drove me crazy but I never complained. My two kids, on the other hand, can’t even share a bed on holiday!

Hi Lisa,
Our boys havent shared a bed head/to/toe yet! I guess they would if they had to 🙂
Funny how we just live with whatever we have to at the time.
cheers
Lisa
I can remember as a kid having to share a bed with my middle brother. I slept one end, he was the other and I remember the fights about covers. It’s nice you all have managed to share such a small space successfully.

Hi Tania,
Its funny how many other people have grown up sharing with family members! We sure have had fun with our older son, but its been interesting trying to fit us all into a Motorhome that is only set up for four people!
Cheers

Certainly do remember sharing a small space with lots of people. we lived in a 22ft caravan for 10yrs with 7 people. Until we got an annexe, we did the top to tail thing, me being the youngest always had to share a bed. I think I have grown up ok regardless lol
It is funny how we are able to share space and we grow up ok! Love that you guys got to spend quality time with your family for 10 years 🙂
Cheers
