Our boys love the Rock Pools at beaches so when we headed down south a few weeks back we made sure to stop and explore the beaches down at Black Head Gerroa New South Wales. And we are so very glad we did stop….it was Natural Learning at its finest! And add our boys imagination and then you have some amazing memories.
Natural Learning ::
If you take the time to stop and look at the rocks the patterns tell a story, and you will be amazed at what you can learn as you walk slowly…
We stopped at so many different rocks and had lots of different talks about what we looking at! It sure was a great way to learn about life, the way the rocks are made and how the animals survive in the Rock Pools.
Back n forth we had stories about Volcanic Rocks, Trees Broken into the Rocks, Petrified Wood, Sea Snails, Shells, Bird Life and so much more..
Each time our boys saw something that was sticking out of the rocks they came up with how it got there, what it was and why it was still there! Can’t learn that from a Book 🙂
And added to the imagination of the stories that were coming fast n thick that day. According to our boys there was Dinosaurs at that beach, Volcanic Rocks because there once was a live Volcano there and lots of Fossils – even snakes (the shapes made them think of snakes)!!
And even Dinosaur Bones ::
If you look at the above picture shape…Kyle says its a bone, Cameron says its a Hammer Shape. What do you think when you see the shape?
After spending time talking about what was at the pools and what was around the surrounding area it was time to head back to more exploring, including Berry – have you been there for their Famous Donuts? OH my they are so worth the very long wait!
Walking back up the hill took a lot out of one boy…..
Cameron needed help getting back after walking for some time! Kyle can keep walking forever – like he said he was “Born Ready“.
Have you Tried Natural Learning While Travelling?
Thanking you for following our Journey.
Cheers
