Yesterday I got out the Motorhome door and decided to hop on a train to see Vivid Sydney Darling Harbour. Silly me left later than we wanted because I thought to clean up like I normally do if we are staying home – sweep the floor, do the dishes, make the beds, get the bathroom cleaned!!!
But it didn’t really matter because I knew that we were going to be out for as long as possible, we wanted to experience Vivid Sydney in all of its finest because who knows where we will be next year when its on! {UPDATE!! We did get to Vivid Sydney 2014}
We got to Town Hall, and walked to Darling Harbour Bridge, to sit on one of the chairs to eat our home made lunch. Before walking around looking at what we could do before the light show started {it doesn’t start till 6.00 pm }
National Maritime Museum
We headed towards the Maritime Museum and found out that the First Thursday of every month its free entry….bonus because it was a place we could explore at my boys pace – they decided where to look and what to see. I would have liked to spend more time reading each display so maybe I will go alone.
Looks like we have another interested in the Navy – He loved the Bunk Beds in the Submarine ::
He LOVED the Submarine Beds!!!
Cameron Playing With the Periscope ~
making up stories about what he “thought” he was seeing!
Kyle looking the Part?
After spending a very short time at the Museum we headed out and went for a walk through Darling Harbour – I was wondering what to do next when we literally stumbled upon a Playground. A huge Kids Playground…..
Both Boys LOVED this SWING ~
and stayed here for ages before moving onto the other equipment.
Last time we were in Darling Harbour we never realised there was somewhere for kids to play..both boys were happy to stay there for ages playing and didn’t want to leave. Even when it started to sprinkle and it was getting late they both wanted to stay.
While they stayed together I ducked into the Tourist Information Centre and got the details of the Vivid Sydney Free Ferry. With a map and instructions of where to go I gathered both boys and headed towards the Darling Harbour Food Court.
Hungry Boys Again
Kyle was “Starving” so he picked Berry Yogurt. Cameron Picked a Frozen Chocolate Banana and they shared my Chicken Noodle Stir-Fry.
Once again their bellies were full {for the moment}. We walked towards the Pyrmont Bay Pier to wait for the Vivid Sydney Free Ferry which took us for a tour of the Harbour.

Sharing the Display they have going on at the moment!
Aboard the Ferry we sat at the Back, thinking that it would be a perfect spot for taking photos – but I didn’t take into account the wind, the spray from the ocean and the fact that I was trying to keep an eye on both boys as well as trying to keep the Camera Steady for Photos!!!
It was sooo fast – too fast that most of the images came out blurry!
On Board the Free Ferry –
I tried so many times to capture the picture but each one came out the way they did!
Harbour Bridge with the Sydney Opera House ~
Blurry but there!
After the tour of the Harbour we got back off at the same Pier and walked back towards the front of Darling Harbour, in time for the Fireworks.

After the Fire Works we walked back across the Bridge to Town Hall (stopping at Woolworths for Hot Food because they were Starving again!!!)
Can You See Someone?
Then we caught the train to Circular Quay to check out the Buildings there, and see the Opera House display ~ I will share more photos of the rest of our night with Vivid Sydney trip tomorrow so be sure to come back here!!
It was a very late night, but so very worth it! We got back to our Motorhome about 1.00 am – would have thought that our Boys would have slept in this morning but they were awake normal time!! And they were up ready to start another day.
After looking at our photos and sharing our night with David (hubby) we have decided that we are going to make another trip back in sometime over the weekend to show the rest of our family!
Have You Been To Vivid Sydney (Darling Harbour)?
What Did You Enjoy the Most?
Cheers
Lisa
New Life on the Road
Oh, wow! You’ve got some fab photos! I hope we can get to see Vivid this weekend, before it ends.
I refused to go into the submarine at the Maritime Museum. I get claustrophobic…Eeek!
Grace recently posted..FYBF – “This is a test call!”
Thanks Grace – you so will love VIVID Sydney – we are going back again so that Hubby can get to see all of it 🙂 Its incredible how much is alive at night time.
Love the lighthouse and navy boat photos. I love light shows at Darling Harbour – we didn’t see a playground when we were there either (although it was about 10 years ago and it might not have been there). I really love Sydney Harbour – I would like to live in Balmain with a view (well anywhere with a view of the harbour would be fine by me. You would have been really tired at 1 a.m. Fancy the boys waking up at the normal time – kids!
budget jan recently posted..Fantastic Friday: Tadoussac and the Saguenay River
My cousin used to live in Balmain – and its so pretty there.
Sydney Harbour is so good – there is always something new to see and do there.
That playground was such a great find! Our boys loved playing there and getting rid of excess energy. They sure have a lot of energy to burn off.
By the next night I was happy to be in bed, after waking up the normal time our day seemed very long!!
We are going back in again to show David the lights/circular Quay because it was so pretty.
Wow! Beautiful Sydney at its best.
Thanks Renee – it was so good to see it all 🙂
