I am super excited about our Adventure that we just had….We Are Back from Eden. I am still on a High. So very grateful for our life and for the opportunities that are coming our way.
And I did it – I traveled with two children all by myself and I cooked them meals and we all survived and we lived fine! Even without showers.
This trip has been a huge challenging journey – I have been saying that I wanted to escape to anywhere for so very long but wasn’t sure how I could and then Spaceships Campervan contacted us and we worked out that a trip to Eden for the Whale Festival would be ideal
The four days was amazing to say the least. We left Wollongong really late on Thursday and stopped at Waldron Swamp Rest Stop over night – where Cameron was able to put up his tent. It was a great over night stop.
At the moment I cant think too clearly – too much driving, seeing way too many amazing places and need some sleep to clear my head, Will have more details about all the places we have been to and seen as soon as I can!
Arriving To Eden ::
On Friday we arrived down there….and gosh was the water incredible.
I have been to Eden as a young child so I was super excited to show our boys a place that I had been to but couldn’t remember all the details.
In that short amount of time we saw the Whale Museum, Davidson’s Whaling Station, Edrom Lodge, The Seahorse Inn, Seamen’s Memorial Wall, Boyd’s Tower, National Timber Workers Memorial, Boydtown Church, Mary Mackillop Hall, Green Cape Lighthouse, Quarantine Bay, Whale Lookout and was there for the Eden Whale Festival.
This was a morning after spending a very cold night at a rest stop 19 K’s out of Eden, we only stayed there on Saturday night! All sleeping in the Camper van to try and stay warm.
Road Trip Tip :: Pack warmer clothes even when the sun is out and you are melting…..I forgot socks for my feet and beanies for the boys!!
At Boyds Tower we did get to see a Mama and Baby Whale….Kyle, Cameron and I was so excited, we were all screaming with delight.
Yes I took this picture with my camera, and have cropped it with Photo Editing so that you can see the Tail of the Whale. We have lots of pictures from the moment we got to see the whales but unfortunately my camera needs a bigger lens to capture a animal so far out to sea!!
The Church Ruins at Boydtown was off limits to cars/people due to vandalism – I was speaking with a couple that live in Eden and they said that the council had to put Electric Fences all the way around the Property and fences around the Church due to the destruction of the church by hoons which is a shame because it would have been a great historical place to visit.
Want to know a funny story? When our older two Woody Sons were in High School {catholic high school} the Principal at the time would ALWAYS start of her speech about Mary MacKillop and her amazing story of how she was the first Saint to be recognized in 2010 for all of her incredible work. I am talking about EVERY SINGLE TIME SHE had to do a school event this principal would mention Mary – it was soon a running joke to see how many times she would mention Mary MacKillop name in one event!!!
Then to see a Church and Mary MacKillop story in Eden was a big spin out for us.
I was trying to cook very basic meals, but so very yummy at the same time. This was Mushrooms, with Baby Spinach, Tomatoes and then I served it up with Baked Beans and a fried egg! Even though both boys were horrified at the Baked Beans they still ate the meal, amazing what happens when you are hungry.
He was so very cold and still so very sleepy so he was watching a DVD while we were thinking about getting breaky.
There was so many other places that I so wanted to get to – Waterfalls, Dams, Bush Walking and so on…Guess another Trip to Eden sometime in the future will have to be on the cards!
At the moment I have to sort out photos, edit them and think about how to share everything we have seen. And yes I have to unfortunately return “Earmuffs” tomorrow 🙁
Yep this is how we travel ~
Yep this is how we roll 🙂
She {Earmuff} has been washed, twice on the outside. And then tomorrow it will be vacuumed before we take the trip to Sydney to return it to the friendly staff.
Then its back to life – back to homeschooling, cooking meals, getting our motorhome ready cause the count down is on for returning to David’s Work {Yippee we are leaving the caravan park which means we have no place we have to be} where we are fixing all of the major mechanical issues before we head North for Xmas.
December {a date is set but I don’t want to reveal it yet} is when we head north.
Then after Xmas we have no where to be…so who knows where we will end up. Maybe we will be back to New South Wales, or maybe we will be in Western Australia, or maybe we will be in Northern Territory….guess only time will tell where we will be.
Thanking you all for following our Journey. As soon as my head clears {still to high up in the Clouds} I will be sharing in detail with pictures all of the places we visited while in Eden.
Have You Been To Eden?
Cheers
Lisa
New Life on the Road
** our trip was possible because of Spaceships CamperVan Rentals – they contacted us to work with their company to make the trip to Eden Possible. They have vehicles to rent in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and are also in New Zealand along with UK. All words are our own.
Love seeing photos of Kyle & Cameron . Kyle remind me so much of Oakley with always a smiling happy face . Enjoy your adventures Lisa & follow your dreams.
Thanking you Johanna, Kyle is always so very happy – I love how Oakley and Kyle are so similar….we hope to catch up with Oakley family on our way north in December 🙂
And yes I am starting to follow my dreams more and more 🙂
What a wonderful trip and great job, Lisa 🙂 That dinner of Mushrooms, with Baby Spinach, Tomatoes with Baked Beans and a fried egg would most definitely work for me. I also liked that stove thingie attached to the door of the van. AWESOME shot of the whale’s tail….that is amazing. I’m glad all is safe and good with you guys 🙂
Thanks Mike, the trip was a really big adventure for me because normally David does all of the Driving and all of the Cooking for us when we are on a trip with our Camper Van.
Now I feel like I can do anything after this trip to Eden and Back.
And that simple basic meal tasted so very yummy, something that both boys ate even though they don’t like Baked Beans – and something I want to keep doing…making simple meals that they haven’t had before.
Seeing the Whales was the hi-light of the trip for sure 🙂
As always, another great adventure story! One of my mission’s in life is to get a photo of a whale in action. Aren’t they majestic creatures?
Grace recently posted..Staycation in Surry Hills {The Cambridge Hotel Sydney Review}
They are incredible creatures – I so want to get up close enough to be able to take really great pics 😉
The trip to Eden was incredible….have lots more blog posts/pictures/details to share over the next few weeks!!
Lisa I just feel a whole new energy to your writing and the photos are fantastic, so full of fun and adventure. Seems you have your mojo going strong, Eden certainly agrees with you all. Sam went away for five days and it was up to me to manage here at home, I totally get your feeling of accomplishment and knowing you can do it xxx
Gosh Lisa, its so very good to have a trip to Eden and Back and to say that I did it 🙂
Good on you for holding down the fort while Hubby was away, you must be feeling over the moon!!
