We Escaped For One Night

You know that blog post I wrote about? The one that EVERYONE Is reading? Our most popular one here at New life on the Road!!! You know the one that I am talking about….if not I will give you the hint here :: Sex Hotel.

How come out of over 400 blog posts that is the one with the highest readers….must be a lot of couples out there that do not have the privacy they need for their relationship to survive? {Maybe they do but they want to be able to escape from life for one night?}

Well David and I did it! We Escaped For One Night to the Novotel Hotel in North Wollongong. Must say that one night was way too short, actually by the time we checked in, and walked through town for dinner it was only really enough time for sleep, a spa bath {or two} and mot much time for anything else!!!

Β

Funny how excited I get about having “Time Out” but in reality I would have preferred to have Cameron and Kyle with us – at the Novotel Hotel Kids can stay and eat free under the ages of 13….and they had a Pancake Maker where we were having Breakfast!! All I could think about was how many pancakes my boys would love to make and eat πŸ™‚

And we also got to discover More Of Wollongong – again all I could think about was how much fun our boys would have had on the Old Canons!

Early Morning ::

Watching the Sun Rise

Sat on the Veranda and watched the Sun Rise

Our room faced the Beach and we woke to see the sun rise – now THAT was so worth escaping from our Motorhome for. Mind you I could have stayed in that bed all day, over looking the water, or watching TV {we don’t have a TV in our Motorhome} or even sitting in that massive spa bath.

The Night Before ::

Discovering More of Wollongong

More History of Wollongong

We walked back from the Thai Restaurant to our Hotel and discovered these old Canons. Funny how we think we have seen all of Wollongong yet we wonder and discover more πŸ™‚

Rushed ::

It was a mad rush to get home to our boys because we had to go shopping for our Second Woody Son {he had to have really good shoes for all of the hard basic training that he was about to go through – and still is going through!!}

Wishful Thinking ::

If there is a next time I will want to escape on a Saturday night not a Friday night….by the time we got everyone sorted, and David was ready I was close to cancelling because we could have been checked in by 2.00pm but we didn’t get there until after 7.00pm πŸ™

We Escaped For One Night but it wasn’t enough to help with us getting enough quality time, nor long enough to enjoy being able to do what we wanted……and I was concerned about how our boys were coping without us.

I still think the smartest way to Holiday for a family is on a Cruise Ship – where they have Kids Club, Meals cooked and ready to eat, entertainment everywhere and something for everyone.

WHAT would you do if you were able to Escape Β For One Night?

Would you turn into two nights?

Animals Find Us Again

Feeding Animals in the Morning

I so loved seeing the sunrise.

I so loved going out for dinner at a Thai Restaurant

I so Β loved being able to relax in a spa Bath

I so loved the location

I so loved the idea of our boys going next time to enjoy the Yummy Breakfast

I so did not love the return to reality πŸ™‚

With any marriage I think its really important to have “Family time”, “Alone Time” and “Us Time” – at the moment our lifestyle is lacking in all areas, and that is something that I am not happy about. “New Life on the Road” started because I wasn’t happy with how our lifestyle was heading, so now I am going to be more mindful about how we are slipping back into old habits, and more determined to look to the future to creating new habits.

Have You Ever Escaped For One Night?

Cheers

Lisa

    We have AMAZING friends who babysit our kids overnight for us every so often and it is bliss! We do miss them of course but what we revel in is being able to be on our own timetable and the silence! Glorious! Glad you could have a night for just the two of you!

      Gosh you are so very lucky to have such good friends who will take your kids over night – that is gold!!!
      We didn’t have enough time to take it all in! Next time maybe we will go for the weekend, mind you not sure when that will be πŸ™‚

    You are so right. It’s important to have family time, alone time, and us time. Finding the time for all of that and working out a happy balance can be so difficult. I’m glad you had one night to yourselves. That sunrise is beautiful πŸ™‚

      Why is it so hard to find balance in our crazy world that we live in? Something that I am so lacking in, and something that I am not good with finding how to do it!!!
      The Sunrise was incredible, wished we had the time to walk along the beach and take it all in. Maybe next time πŸ™‚

    It was disappointing that you got there late and had to rush home, but you did make the effort. How stunning is that sunrise. I think that photograph is stunning – and the cockatoo – you capture him mid step!

      The Cockatoos were incredible, and it was so fitting that they found us for feeding time πŸ™‚

      We hope to experience many more sunrises like we got to see that morning πŸ™‚

    Sounds like u guys had a beautiful night. I think we all need those nights away. My philosophy is that if we are happy the kids are generally better off so I’d be going two nights next time (after you’ve taken them on a separate occasion of course). What a sunrise, so beautiful.

      I think that escaping for one night was not long enough! But it has given me ideas on how we can escape for longer times…and also by ourselves for happiness πŸ™‚
      The sunrise was so incredible.

    The sunrise is stunning, and your night at the hotel sounded lovely, even if you did get there a little late to fully appreciate things. Yes, I think it’s important to get away for date nights, preferably two! It’s much easier when the children are older (as mine are) but even when they’re grown up I still so often think as you do: “Wouldn’t they love it here, and I just wish they were with us!”

      Yeah I was so do that the whole time…saying “Oh wouldn’t the boys love it here” πŸ™‚
      Yet I so enjoyed a break from their constant chatter!!

    What a gorgeous sunrise photo… next time here’s hoping you get to stay in bed all day. It’s a dilemma isn’t it? My husbie and I haven’t had any time together alone for FAR too long… we have a holiday planned for January – my 50th birthday – four nights away… who will mind the kids??!!!

      Thanks Seana,
      Happy Birthday for January…. I would volunteer to look after your kids but I am not sure where I will be next year, nor do your kids know me well enough to be with them for four days!!
      Having no family that we can rely on makes it harder for us to escape – do you have family near bye?

      Oh Danya, I so feel you. We had our two boys 17 months apart and it was not easy to escape for “Us Time” – we used to have “Date Nights” at home once our boys were asleep.
      When you do have “Us Time” it will be so worth it xx

    I’m glad you two were able to escape even for just one night. I know that bittersweet of feeling of relaxation and feeling so nice to be alone yet wishing the kids were there to share all the fun with you. I love the view you had and what a glorious sunrise. I totally agree about the cruise. Parents and kids can have their own me time yet be able to do activities together too. It’s one of the reasons we love cruises.
