*** For all of our loyal friends, family, readers, followers thanking you for being so very kind to us, and stopping in here to read our blog posts. Even though we haven’t blogged on New Life on the Road for the last month or so, our posts are still being read. For all of those new, welcome to our way of living ****
These Are The Things That Piss Me Off ::
We have been told {and have heard others say about us} “Oh you don’t even travel”
I guess we fly from place to place then?
or we get this one {regularly} “So when are you going to get on the road”
{S**T Don’t say that one to me anymore…cause gee what more can I say? We don’t have a fixed address?? We are on the road to somewhere all of the time}
or this is the icing on the cake….”Oh you poor things, you don’t have your Motorhome with you so you can’t be traveling”.
Or “You Haven’t Seen Anything Yet” – really??
We Have Traveled Even Though We Get Told We Never Do. Since the weekend before Christmas, the weekend where we had to say a sad farewell to our Motorhome {she is safely being stored}, we have traveled over 4000 Kilometers in our Trusty Campervan.
We have traveled in many different styles :: From Hotel Rooms {David and Kyle needed to be out of the Cold Night Air}, to Free Camping Places {yep we pulled up in a Playground one night}, to staying with amazing Friends, to Staying in Cabins {oh gosh do I have a story on that one!!!}, to sleeping in our Campervan – yep all four of us in there over night, to Sleeping in our Tents, to some of us sleeping on the ground, to some of us sleeping in the tents while others sleep in the Campervan, magical stay at National Parks, Camping at a Gold Fossilizing area, Caravan Parks….we have seen some amazing places in the last month and a bit.
Lots to Share Soon ::
I so can’t wait to share our journey in details, we have over 1000 photos to go through and work out which ones to share.
But for the time being I thought I would point out We Have Traveled, We Do Travel. Its not important “How” or “What Means Of Traveling” – its not the vehicle that is important. I am not fussed on how anyone travels, be it in a Campervan, Camper Trailer, Motorhome, Tents, Couch Surfing, Walking, Bike Riding, Horse Riding, Camel Riding….you get the picture!
Its showing our boys more of Australia that means so very much.
Teaching, Showing, Exploring ::
Its how they learn so much more then any schooling system could teach them, they learn from seeing, reading, and exploring.
I so wished that all children could “learn” outside the classroom, sure wished I had as a young child, do know that Cameron and Kyle are so very lucky to have their New Life on the Road way of living.
Here Is Where We Have Been ::
Macadamia Castle Northern New South Wales – the best Big Breakfast Ever,
The Town of Seventeen Seventy and Agnes Water – meeting up with Kyle’s best mate from Prep and his family,
Bundaberg,
Hervey Bay and Urangan Pier,
Rainbow Beach and Carlos Sand Blow,
Caught up with wonderful friends in the Sunshine Coast area,
Climbing up Mt Ngungun {again with Kyle’s Best Mate from Prep and his family},
David took this Picture of Mt Ngungun,
He Climbed up higher and looked down to see if he could see our old house!
Oh and that’s Me, in the Pink T-shirt 🙂
then onto Brisbane with two different amazing families. While in the Brisbane area we explored ::
Daisy Hill Conservation Park, Lego at Ipswich Art Gallery, Newmarket Pool, Cedar Creek Falls.
We also visited Redcliffe Lagoons so that we could {again} meet up with “Family Going Places” and our great facebook friend Terrance. Such a great day watching all of the homeschooling children getting along, and catching up with friends who love to travel, they get our way of living!
The back on the Road For More Adventures ::
Natural Bridge {Natural Arch} Goldcoast Hinterland – seen it at night time for the Glow Worms on the Roof top and also during the day light the next day,
Nimbin – the BEST Hippy Town of Australia – we got asked so many times if we wanted to Buy Some “Weed” or buy some “Cookies” – of course we said no!
Tenterfield Saddler – the place everyone used to visit when in town!,
Australia Standing Stones at Glen Innes,
Thunderbolts Cave and Thunderbolts Rock,
Camping overnight at Uralla Fossicking Area – near Armidale NSW
Tamworth Country Music Festival,
Visiting with great friends at Newcastle {both boys still talk about their magical night sleeping in a Kombi Van!!},
Visiting Singleton,
Back To Our Motorhome while we stayed in Camden – David has been back and forward working out its issues.
Stayed at Camden Caravan Park – where we could catch a train into Sydney and meet up with our Second Navy Son for our last visit to the Australia National Maritime Museum. Also checked out “Cake Biz” train – the best idea ever!
2 nights in Orange – had a great time playing at “Orange Adventure Playground” and eating a fantastic Pub Meal at “Royal Hotel”
Visiting Mt Canobolas and bush walking {not a very easy walk that one!} to Federal Falls – that track is NOT for the faint hearted, not the best track for little ones, or for those NOT used to the high air/steep hills/steep rocks. It took forever for me to get back to our Campervan!
We then drove onto the Mt Panorama Race Track – Well David drove onto it and we all screamed!!!! It WAS the best experience ever, to think that we were driving down where race cars fly by. Mind you our little old campervan crusied it slowly, so that we got to enjoy the track more, not cause its slow or anything!
Over night we camped at Lake Lyell Recreation Park – MUST go back with our Motorhome because they have the best place to park – both power and un-powered sites are available. With Showers costing 20cents per minute – we only used 60 cents per person per shower, with fire wood for purchase – playground, swimming section to the lake and great place for fishing/boating. Can’t wait to return again.
From there we explored a little old town called “Hartley” – checking out the Historic Town and picking wild fruit – we had fresh apples {which we have just feed to a sweet little pony today}, and yummy nectarines.
We have also headed back to our motorhome in between our travels – David has pulled the engine apart and so far its a “Bent Push Rod” that has caused all the issues….he is heading back there again this weekend and will be {FINGERS and TOES crossed} fixing the issues and have our motorhome back with us early next week.
Camped at Lane Cove National Park for 4 nights. Where we had our Second Navy Son pop on over Saturday night to have dinner with us, and to catch up on how his week has been. We also went for a huge bush walk to find the “Weir” but never came across it?
Now we are in Newcastle for the week….trying to decide where to head to next week.
Who knows where we will be? Who knows how we are going to get there? Who knows what’s around the corner of the road for us?
Guess we will be where the universe points us to! I do know this – I have loved every minute of our travels. And I can’t wait to travel to many more locations.
Today we explored “Shipwreck Walk” – and was able to see the “Adolphe Ship” wreck. Took a heap of photos, can’t wait to start sharing our adventures from the last few months.
If I hear one more person say to us “Oh you haven’t been anywhere, you haven’t traveled” I am so going to point them to this blog post “We Have Traveled Even Though We Get Told We Never Do” and then tell them where to go piss off.
We may not have seen all of Australia, but guess what….No One Can Cause There Is Far Too Much To See !!!
Cause I am sick and tired of being told we are not travelers. I am sick and tired of hearing “Oh you haven’t seen anything yet”
We travel our way, in our time, with our family and it suits us fine. The people that try to bring me down, guess what – you can’t cause my dreams are huge and I Believe they are all going to come true.
Where Have You Been To Lately?
Cheers
Lisa

WOOOHOOO Lisa, you go girl!! We are a 5person family, been on the road for 6months now in our 16ft caravan with full annex (just about to purchase a bus) and have only seen about an eighth of QLD with soooo much more to see just in this one state. We like to take our traveling slow aswell otherwise there will be so much we will miss out on seeing and so much our children will miss out on learning. You guys are great. Would take at least 10years of travelling to see ALL of our beautiful country we reckon. 🙂 🙂
Thanking you so very much Rhiannon, I love to hear from other families on the road and to hear how they are travelling.
I really reckon that if one had three lifetimes they still couldn’t see all of Australia 🙂
Yippee for slow travelling, it really rocks!
Wowee, what an epic awesome post, Lisa! It is FANTASTIC!! That is baffling that anyone would “call out” your traveling…puzzling to me. Because every time that I’ve read one of your posts I feel like I’m on the journey with you! All of your photos are absolutely dazzling and thank you for the Down Under escape with you yet again! 🙂
