So on Friday 18th March it was David’s and my 16th Wedding Anniversary and we had no idea what to do for the night.
We take our boys everywhere with us! We have visited Bundaberg Rum Distillery and the Bundaberg Ginger Beer Factory.
As we are currently in the Bundaberg area getting our bus back up to date we put out there on facebook asking for any “Wedding Anniversary Ideas”? I wanted to go somewhere where we would not normally go – somewhere I can sit and talk without our five gorgeous boys joining us. Its not that I don’t love spending time with our boys – its just that I wanted to spend time with just hubby.
Wedding Anniversary Ideas
So because I love facebook and have so many wonderful friends on there I posted on there last week for suggestions of where to spend our Wedding Anniversary as a couple.
I wanted to go out to a place where I could dress up – I normally only where casual clothes that fit in with our crazy lifestyle! I have a few good dresses, most of them in storage but had kept out one of…my favorite dress. I have only worn this dress once before, and I so love the gorgeous design – but being a Mum I am not really given the opportunity to get dressed up!!
A few Wedding Anniversary Ideas came in….see the Turtles, visit Bargara Pub, try a restaurant in Bundaberg, the Bargara Berries, and even staying overnight in a Motel!! I so would have loved staying out overnight but that will have to wait for another Wedding Anniversary Idea.
Wedding Anniversary
So 16 years ago on the 18th March David and I got married, It was such a magical wedding as we already had Hayden. Hayden was about 10 months old so I searched for a little suit so that he could be part of the wedding party. The priest even included Hayden into the wedding vowels, and he was carried over to us for part of the ceremony. I loved that day – it was the beginning of our family life! Since then we have had added four more crazy boys to our family – and packed a lot into our life together. Normally on our Wedding Anniversary we either spend time having dinner together (putting the boys to bed early) or go out to eat.
Wedding Night
On our Wedding night we were spent a night at a Motel about an hour from where we were living. Because Hadyen was so young we did not want to leave him over night for too long. So we have never really had a honey moon – maybe one day I can ask the question on facebook for any Wedding Anniversary Ideas about where to have a belated honey moon. Actually I will ask that here – what did you do for your Wedding Honey Moon and where would you recommend as an Wedding Anniversary Ideas?
Where We Ended Up
David was cheeky this year – he booked a place and would not tell me where we were going! I asked what should I wear…typical man response “Where what ever you feel comfortable wearing” !! Great that gave me a lot to work with. So a great friend suggested I waited to see what David put on first (thanks Jackie) David decided to have first shower and get ready before me because I take a bit longer than him to get scrabbed up! When he put a long sleeve shirt on, new jeans, and his good shoes I knew it was time for a dress! I was happy to wear my little black/white dress that I have only wore once before and high heels. Then he changed his shirt for a short sleeved shirt that was not so fancy so I wondered if I was over dressed but it was too late to change.
Spinnakers Restaurant and Cold Rock Icecreamy
David surprised me with his choice of Wedding Anniversary Ideas – we ended up eating at Spinnakers Restaurant and Cold Rock Icecreamy! Can you imagine eating Icecream in fancy clothes!! It was the perfect way to end a perfect Wedding Anniversary night.
Thank you for sharing our day with your kind words, wonderful Wedding Anniversary Ideas and following our story here at New Life On The Road! If you want to see more photos go to facebook fanpage and check out my dress 🙂
Next we talk all about Caravan Curtains.

Hi Lisa,
I like the sound of a surprise Wedding Anniversary, well done David.
Congrats on your 16 years together too, glad to hear you both had a great night for your anniversary.
Hi Cade,
It was so good of David to think of something for our anniversary without me having to choose what to do…..its nice for us girls to get a surprise!
Cheers

Great to hear of your anniversary celebration, and that you did something special. It sounds like it was a fun time together, and no matter where you are, you can find time to do something together. It is good to take time out from “family” and do things for the two of you occasionally. I love my family, but value my time alone with my husband. Congratulations on 16 years of marriage. A great achievement…and many more to come!!

Thanks Carolyn,
It was a great night out. So amazed that David was actually able to keep a secret and book our night out 🙂
Thanks for the congratulations.
Cheers

It’s so exciting to keep guessing where will your husband bring you on your anniversary. I felt your excitement, eventhough you were “overdressed” for an ice cream, however you are dressed up, it’s always amazing to celebrate an anniversary. 🙂
Thanks Grace – we sure had fun!!! The icecream was the best I have ever tasted. I had coffee mixed with Maltesers, and David had Macadamia with Chocolate Coated Nougat. Wonder what he has planned for next year! Mmm 17 years – what are your suggestions for 17 years?
Cheers
Lisa
Hi Lis, by just reading what ice cream flavors you had made me drool. Ha ha! And wow, 17 amazing years! Maybe you can spend it on the beach and have the belated honeymoon?
Hello Grace,
Hey that is such a great idea….belated Honeymoon!! I might start dropping hints about going on a cruise for next year, or a trip to Hawaii – gosh that would so nice! Thanks for the suggestion.
Cheers

Sounds like you had a lovely wedding anniversary Lisa.
As my husband and I were together for a long time before we married, we used to celebrate the anniversary of the day we met. Then we had the day of our actual wedding ceremony. Following this, as my family live in the UK, we went over there and had a wedding reception (another date for the diary), and finally, we decided to have a church blessing!
As much as I would like to have the excuse to celebrate each occasion, we had to narrow it down to the day we got married :)!

Hello Hilary,
Oh wow that sounds like an amazing event….you could almost say that you have married the same man twice!! What a great idea to celebrate the day you met, and then your actual wedding day – you could celebrate all year round 🙂 I like the idea of a church blessing, thats a great way to celebrate with family.
Thanks
Cheers
