Every day I get asked the same question – every single morning! I get asked “Whats For Dinner” and we haven’t even finished Breakfast. Can you guess which one of our sons asks that while he is eating breakfast (I’m NOT kidding – He is still eating Breakfast while thinking of Dinner)
Whats For Dinner
Recently we have started to do up a weekly Menu so that I know what I am cooking every night – since David has started night Shift I have had to take over Dinners….and I have enjoyed trying to find new recipes and use up what we have in our Cupboards (But don’t tell hubby!)
Tonight was different. We had no Gas for cooking on our cook top. We had nothing left in the freezer nor the fridge. I was meant to make “Potato and Leek Soup” but its a bit hard without Gas! Last night Zachery decided to soak “beans” for Falafel as that was what he wanted for dinner – Falafel and Salad.
Until we ran out of Gas. Dave went into the local town with the Gas Bottles but couldn’t find anywhere that fills up the bottles. Then he rushed out the door to work – without even having a cuppa. Normally we have a cuppa together – it’s the only “us time” that we have lately – forget about cuddle, kisses or even time alone…that is now non-existence.
What To Cook When There Is Nothing To Cook
So I was scratching my head, and trying to think…what can I cook with no food? Decided to cook with our Turbo oven – Potato Chips (home-made) with Toasted Mushroom/Cheese on Bread. I even manage to cook Eggs on Bread.
Here is our dinner…..
Chips and Toasted Cheese On Bread ~
So not healthy but its an easy meal.
Press down on the Bread ~
To make the egg stay in the middle while cooking.
Whisk the Egg ~
Then gently put it into the Pressed down Bread
Egg on Bread ~
Toasted Cheese and Mushroom with chips
Yep our dinner was “Egg on Bread” with “Cheese and Mushroom Toasted” and hot chips. That is what we had for dinner tonight.
Whats For Dinner At Your House?

New Life on the Road
We had pizza. Cheats 😉
It still fills a hole and is better than nothing , I’d love cheese on toast.
We had
Pumpkin soup cooked in the rice cooker and left over home made meat pies , the kids had mini bacon and egg pies with a little spinach . We have a little 10amp 2 burner oven and cooktop in our shed.
I think a turbo cooker that makes chips would be awesome .
Thei pumpkin I cooked a few days ago and was just waiting to use it.

Today we went into Granada again. We visited an Arab pastry shop in the Albaicyn area, and he had some rectangular flat bread on the counter top. We bought four (quatra) and had one each for lunch with tuna and tomato. We saved the other two to have with curried pork and veges tonight. The weather is overcast and fairly cold so that will be nice.
