There are three bloggers over in India at the moment. Seeing and Smelling sites we could never imagine seeing here in Australia. And forever will they be changed from their visit.
Could you image climbing over rubbish to visit the people that live there?
Could you image trying to go to the toilet but because of the different food choices not being able to? I so know that feeling – being constipated is so not good.
What about seeing it all in Black n White?
And image sleeping in a place where the mattress has blood on it, with reading material under the mattress that you would not expect to find there? And then being woken up by a guy banging on the door during the night?
Photo From India ~
Not from the Bloggers Trip (Photo Sourced)
These bloggers have left family behind to actually be able to see all that and much more in India. Seeing it through their eyes is the only way to actually understand why they are there.
And its a good thing. It really is.
They are able to share from their own experiences in their own words what World Vision is able to do for these gorgeous Children in India. And for their gorgeous Mummy’s. And for their Daddy’s. Its a community thing.
These bloggers will sleep at night knowing they are getting up in the morning to visit more villages, more people who are affected by where they are living, and by their lack of resources. Yet through the work of others helping them to grow crops, provide safe education to keep the kids off the streets, teaching, support, food and so much more :: they are given a chance to live.
We have it so damn easy here in our comfy country.
Yet do our kids even realise?
Today I listened to my youngest son say how bored he was, and how much he wanted his own Computer…..oh gee if only he knew how being bored is a good thing!
Seeing the photos are one thing. But reading about the trip from the bloggers in India is something altogether different. Could you image being there? What will those bloggers be like when they get back home?
It will touch your heart, it will bring tears to your eyes.
It will make you want to hug your kids a little bit tighter, and say “Thank-You” to the universe a little bit more.
After all we have our own beds, we have food in our Fridges, we have money that comes in every week and we have so much to give back.
When you get into bed tonight and you give your better half a hug, and wrap your arms around him/her, send a moment or two to these bloggers that are over there.
For they are making a difference.
And at the end of the day that is what matters the most….making a difference.
World Vision Bloggers :: In India – YOU guys rock.
Cheers

New Life on the Road
I clicked on a link to Edenland and read her post:
My Life is A Story: This quote from a child journalist gave me hope: “People never used to look at us before. After we have been trained as child journalists, our community looks at us with respect and dignity.”
That is such a worthwhile project.

I totally agree about how we can take things for granted over this side of the world. I do it all the time myself and your post was a good reality check.
And OMG sleeping on a blood stained bed, what the……

We do take our affluent lifestyle for granted and that is why we have sponsored 2 children for 20+ years. The 2 current ones are in India. One of our girls went on to college and we continued to sponsor beyond hig school to help her train as a nurse! So proud of her! I can’t imagine actually going there! 3 out of our 4 kids sponsor their own child now, though I’m not sure where they each are.

Hi Michelle,
So good to hear that another family is sponsoring children 🙂
Not sure that I could ever go to India to see what is really going on behind the scenes! My hat goes off to the World Vision Bloggers!
Incredible that your children are also sponsoring – great way for a family to spread the support around.
Cheers
