Today I took Kyle out for a morning to help with feeding the animals at Splitters Farm. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to get him to leave once the self-guided tour was over! And I was right. He had to see all of the animals all over again, the goats were his favorite. Oh and the Dog who looked like a Dingo, and the horses, and the cows, and the guinea pigs….and every animal.
Mind you he was scared of the big horns on some of those goats, and the pigs – he wasn’t keen on the pigs as he knows how sharp their teeth are!
If you are ever in Bundaberg or traveling to Bundaberg, then make sure you either add Feeding the Animals at Splitters Farm to your bucket list, or even spend some time camping there – it’s worth stopping there for the farm experience, the peaceful camping area, and everyone will be raving about the experience for years to come.
He still has a dream of owning a Zoo one day – where did he get his passion and love for animals from? No idea! Not from me, and not sure he got it from Dave either?
When you get to Splitters Farm there are signs up everywhere, directing you on where to go….and so we headed to the office. I didn’t pay and book online for the self-guided animal feeding tour as I had cash and wanted to pay that way. Which was allowed!
I couldn’t tear him away from Feeding the animals at Splitters Farm – we stayed for ages. And now he has asked if he can volunteer to help out with anything and everything. I mentioned to them that he has his own beehive and bee suit and would be able to help their hives or even feeding the many different animals – or anything to do with Splitters Farm.
He is hoping that his homeschooling year will be full-on busy with learning new skills. He has karate at least three nights a week, Woodworkers Guild once a week, a part-time job on a farm every Tuesday and now hoping to help volunteer at Splitters Farm.
Oh and he will be 16 in June so he will also be going for his Learners Licence so the year 2021 will be amazing for him.
Now to find the time to go camping at Splitters Farm or even Glamping – not sure how or when but so cant wait for at least a weekend away.
Have You Stayed At Splitters Farm?
If not we highly recommend either going out to feed the animals, or staying for at least two nights with camping in either a powered site/unpowered site or an amazing glamping site.
