David has always wanted to learn how to sail a boat. He can build them – he is a boat builder by trade but has never ever learnt to sail one. A New Dream Comes True with this little beauty.
We have a little bit {oh okay} of work to do before she can get into the water. She needs a new paint job, cushions made for the bench seats and David wants to make a bed for inside the cabin. She will be a little sailing boat to take away for short periods of time – she has everything ready to go regards sails, motor, lines – basically everything ready to sail her.
There is only one section at the back that is needing to be re-fibreglassed which he can do easily. We are not sure on any of the electronics but she was used right up to recently so hopefully, most of them are working. It needs a new battery which we will purchase, and he wants to check the trailer wheel bearings out.
We do need life jackets for David and me – and life jackets for our two dogs. Basically, the paint job is the bigger task, a huge cleanup – she does have mold that we must deal with because our boys are allergic to mold – and paint on the inside of the cabin.
She is perfect for sailing to little islands and for weekend trips away. It even has a little sink inside of it. We are so hoping that we can take her out asap as it is the start of the Whale Season and it would be super cool to see whales!!!
Kyle is super excited and wants to name her “My Girl” – I would love to paint it Hot Pink – I am surrounded by boys my whole life and nothing is pink in my world so I have asked – David and Kyle agree she can be painted pink.
We are away camping this weekend coming up so the work can’t begin until the following weekend. Which is a bummer but hey at least we can start planning what we are going to do and how we are going to go about it.
The paint job will have to be done somewhere safe as the marine paint is not safe around our kids/animals.
And the bed in the cabin will have to be made to be waterproof along with the bench cushions.
NEW DREAMS COME TRUE – here she is…..
We do need a name for her! Funny but Kyle and I both have already called it a “her” – Kyle likes “My Girl”.
David says what about “Hot Pink”
I reckon “Dream Believe”
What Do You Think She Should Be Called?
Cheers

I don’t care what you paint or call it – just go sailing! It is great place to start. Can I recommend popping down to the yacht cub and learning to sail in smaller boats so you can get a good feel for wind and tide? Have fun!
yeah Kyle has learnt to sail down at the sailing club in the smaller sail boats – we are going to ask if they can give us a few lessons before we go anywhere with it 🙂
