On Saturday I arranged to meet my family who I have not had contact with since our oldest son was a baby – about 17 1/2 years ago was the last time I saw my brother. And I was beyond nervous, beyond scared but knew it was something that I really wanted to do.
After all life is really short and to stupid to be worried about remembering the “Why” we were not in contact. Actually to be honest I can’t remember why we are not each in other’s life, but knew that for the next step to take place I needed to meet in Neutral Ground.
Seen as how we have only stopped at Appin New South Wales for a very short break on our way down from the Sunshine Coast to Wollongong back in January (of this year) it seemed like a great place for our meet up.
And it went all so smoothly. Actually it was freaky how well it did go ~ like it was meant to be.
We meet at Appin Hotel for lunch where there was an outdoor playground, along with yummy food.
Appin Pub ~
Perfect place for family lunch.
Kyle normally Eats Fish n Chips when out ~
this time he tried Lasagna with Chips
When Ever We Are Out n About ~
Cameron orders Lasagna with Chips! He ended up eating his, three pieces of Garlic bread and finished Kyle’s Lunch!!
Once we had finished eating we decided to go for a walk down the main street of Appin. I had seen the most run-down gorgeous house that I wanted to have a closer look at. Gosh it would be stunning done up – with David’s skills the Place would be perfect as a Tourist Attraction. Dave is able to give “New Life” to anything that he touches, and his skills are so wasted when not renovating.
This Place Would Be Fantastic As A Tourist Attraction ~
Great as a Organic/Coffee/Cake/Chocolate Café or Antiques!
Shame its be left to be run down.
With his skills, and my style I reckon the house would be ideal for a Coffee/Antique Shop, attracting travellers and local residents, stopping in to experience a touch of old time experience with new world charm.
The walk was brief, admiring the Church and the history behind the Appin Area.
Oldest Catholic Church!
Walking back to Appin Pub (the current one!) ~
we discovered Appin Post Office ~
And read about its history!
Opening and Closing of Appin Post Office ~
A town of History!
It was good to walk down the main street of Appin and discover its history. It would make a great tour day…..having someone dressed up in old world costume and showing visitors the history of how Appin New South Wales came about!
Then we moved onto breaching the subject of meeting up with more family members….which I will share here soon! We did get together and have fun on the Big Scooter!
Have You Been to Appin?
What about contacting family members who you have lost touch with?
It’s so important to move on, forget what was in the past and create a new future. At least that is what I am concentrating on at the moment!
Thanking you for following our Journey.
Cheers
Lisa
New Life on the Road.
You must be nearly jumping out of your skin with happiness at the moment. And more to come! Appin looks like a fantastic town and I agree that the old building would be amazing restored. You should look into if it is for sale or not 🙂
budget jan recently posted..Fantastic Friday – Dry Gulch Provincial Park Campfire Heaven
It sure was a surreal day! And one that I needed to get up the courage to make happen. I have thought about seeing if the house is for sale…not sure if David would be happy about that one!!
