Yesterday we meet with other homeschooling Mums/Kids at Baldwin Swamp Bundaberg for more GEOcaching fun, along with much needed exercise for us Mums, and an wonderful way to burn off energy for the kids. It was rather warm day but at the same time it was so beautiful.
I actually never even knew that Baldwin Swamp was there! I have been to the Sugar Train Playground. And I have seen the signs pointing to the landscaped bush walking areas but have never ventured that far. I think in the three hours that we were there we nearly covered ever walking track that’s available! If not we were so very close 🙂
Are you into GEOcaching as much as we have become addicted? Well that is Kyle and I? David and Cameron still are not fussed about it, but its very much an addiction for Kyle and I – hey its way better then being addicted to chocolate!!
Here are a few snaps from yesterday ::
There was an artist group there at the Shelter Shed, painting landscapes and animals. Such a perfect place to sit and relax.
They are trying to help the area recover and re-grow after the floods back in 2011. With bringing back the fish and all the wildlife to the area.
We walked from Baldwin Swamp to the Sugar Train Playground. Looking at each information board along the way, reading the clues for the GEOcache that was located in the Park. The Geocache had a set of questions that needed to be answered, walking from one information board to another one provided the co-ordinates needed to search for the cache – another homeschooling Mum found the sweet hide, I won’t spoil it for you but if you are into GEOccaching then you so need to add that one to your list 🙂
After walking around collecting our answers from each board, and finding the cache we seen that there was another cache on the other side of Baldwin Swamp area, so we headed off in the direction our GPS was giving us! And came across this sweet Bush Chapel!
I don’t go to Church but I so could imagine going to this service, imagine having a sweet wedding here 🙂
We then came to a “Bird Spotting Area” – where I gave Kyle my camera – he took lots of pictures of one of his friends {not sure why?} and took this picture of the birds – I think he is getting really good at taking pics 🙂
Yep this is where the Batty teenagers hang out – they are smelly {don’t we know it!!}, so very noisy and they are so full of poop 😉
They sure let us know that we were not welcomed. They moved, they made a lot of noise and they were happy when we left their trees. Mind you I wouldn’t like anyone to walk underneath my tree if I was hanging around upside down all day!!!
I love how the Council are respecting the area for the breeding of the Fauna, it makes sense to leave the grass along so that the area can grow again, but I am not going in that grass – its way past the knees, imagine all the snakes in there!
What a perfect place to take a seat while at Baldwin Swamp Bundaberg – I could easily have sat there for while but we had to keep on moving as we headed to a Homeschooling event in town – learning more about the Edison Programming and how to use code {which by the way Kyle is getting way easier then I am!!}
Have You Got A Baldwin Swamp Area That You Have Explored?
We are so very happy that another Homeschooling family suggested we did GEOcaching at the swamp. We found two out of three – well actually one of the other Mums found two out of three. It looks like one was missing, at least we hope so cause we couldn’t see it at all!
Share your favorite walking place below, we would love to check it out 🙂
Cheers
Lisa
New Life on the Road.
Love the bush chapel – that’s my kind of worship place.
Its a beauty hey 🙂
I’d like to take my kids there one of these days. It looks like a great camping place.
