A few weeks ago we went for a scenic drive (no we didn’t get lost while driving!) and passed a huge dam. We were going to keep driving, but we were not sure if we wanted to spend the day at Maleny, so we turned around. It was getting towards lunch time by then, and our boys were getting hungry. We came across a great park which had a BBQ so we could cook eggs for egg sandwiches. While David was cooking I went exploring and soon discovered the Blue Green House.
Blue Green House and Gardens
The Blue Green House at Yandina is all about how to design a house that is suitable for our climate. To design a house that is cool in summer, warmer in winter plus its set up to save money!

The Gardens that surround the Green Blue House are set in a way to take advantage of the climate, the sun, the rain, the colder climate and even set up so that it can grow without weeds. They have plants, herbs, veggies, fruit and even trees!

Don’t you just love all the different things that you learn on the road? I’m sure your boys learnt a lot more than they could have about it using a text book!
Hi Amy,
Its amazing what they do take in, and what they do learn by getting out and exploring. The Blue Green House is fantastic – We all loved the herb garden!
Cheers

Their gardens can grow without weeds? I’m in! Looks like it was a fun stop, but are you sure you weren’t lost?

Hello Steve,
We have been lost many times before – but this time we actually knew where we going!
The gardens were amazing – so many herbs, plants, trees! It was the best day 🙂
Cheers

The use of sustainable materials for a building is not a new concept, but the call for sustainability has increased over the years. Unfortunately, one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gases after coal-powered power plants is cement manufacturing which produces one ton of carbon dioxide gas for every ton of cement made. Cement, as we all know, is the most used building material in the world.
