The very first thing that I ask David to take out of our Motorhome was the Oven. It was right next to the bunkbeds which was extremely dangerous ~ there was even burn marks up the wall from someone cooking on it.
David was not to keen to say goodbye to the oven, but we got a good price for it (actually the oven looked fairly new!) He wanted to keep it because he loves cooking, but he realised we needed the extra bench space/cupboard space. I was keen because I really do NOT like cleaning the oven when its dirty. It would have to be the one job that I do not go out of my way to do.
Cooking A Roast Dinner Without An Oven
Our boys love Roast Dinners! That and Vegetarian Tacos is their all time favorite meals. Actually I think they all have favorite meals but if they could ask for a particular meal it’s mostly Roast Chicken and Baked Potatoes.
Seen as how it’s not that hard to make I was more than happy to buy a Whole Chicken, clean it out and add our secret ingredient before placing it into our Bench Top convection Oven. Mind you I wasnt keen on cooking inside tonight because I wanted to keep our Motorhome fairly cool before bed. (Another reason we didn’t want an oven in our Motorhome was because it would make it too hot inside when cooking – which I suppose would be good in winter time?)
How To Make An Outside Oven
With a bit of imagination and one trusty ladder its really easy cooking a roast dinner!
Here is our Outside Oven …….
How We Make Our Dinner Outside ::
The ladder is being used for many things lately, mostly for when David was painting the Roof Top, but sometimes our two youngest will use it for cubby houses. Tonight I left it the way I found it, added the Gas Bottle Compartment Door to it, and then placed our Bench Top convection oven onto it. There was Chicken, Potatoes and Sweet Potatoes cooking in next to no time.
With Honey Carrots and Beans on our Gas Stove Top (we have a Gas Cook Top that is located on the Passenger side of our Motorhome!) means that our boys will eat and I can get onto other jobs ~ like finishing the second coat of paint on our Roof next to our Queensize bed.

The Gravy Looks Lumpy ~
only because I forgot to take the photo as soon as I served up our dinners!
Home Made Gravy ::
Using the juices from the Roast Dinner/Baked Potatoes.
Placing them into a saucepan with Salt/Pepper and Chicken Stock.
Add Cornflour to thicken (add it carefully or it will have too many lumps). I usually put in the Cornflour into a saucepan first and then slowly add the Juice Combination! Tonight I forgot and did it the other way around….lucky I was able to almost whisk most of the lumps out.
And Dinner was Eaten very fast tonight. I swear it’s the only time my boys are ever quiet – is when they are eating!
They all even came back for seconds (I usually make lots of Veggies so that they can ask for more)
Want to know the Secret Ingredient?
We add two cloves of garlic, an onion and a BIG chunk of Butter to the inside of the Chicken. It makes the chicken taste so very yummy and keeps it moist so that its nice and tender when eating. I think that David read about it one time and ever since we add our secret ingredient. Actually David only adds the Butter….I like to add the yummy onion/garlic flavour.
Oh and on top of the Chicken is Salt/Pepper/Herbs and Chilli Flakes!
Do You Have A Favorite Roast Dinner?
Do You Like Our Outdoor Oven!

New Life on the Road
Definitely trying this someday! By the way, how useful is that ladder!

Our ladder (actually Davids Ladder!) is the best thing ever…from climbing onto the roof, to cubby houses to an outdoor oven. And yep the dinner was the best ever – our boys love it 🙂
