On Friday afternoon I was like a mad women from another planet, trying to get ready and drop two of our boys off to David’s Work so that I could catch the train into Sydney. I am so glad that I went, so glad that I took the train in and meet up with Grace from “With Some Grace” and her Hubby.
Girlrising Where Dreams Are Possible
World Vision asked us to come into to see “Girlrising” at the Movies. I jumped at the chance because I love to experience a movie that takes you on a journey, taking you along with the feelings of another place, another world but where you feel like you are part of that time.
The movie makes you wake-up. It gives you a glimpse into what one Girl can do, one Girl at a time.
It also gave me something back that had been missing for awhile. It gave me back the feeling of being able to dream, dream big. Because if there is one thing that Girlrising will do for you, its will help you to realise that dreams are possible.

Stories To Be Told ::
There are many girls stories told through out the movie, and many different cultures, many different countries, many different religions. Yet each Girls background and story is tied together by one theme – That Girls Will Be Heard.
They Will Stand Up, And We Will Be Listening.
The Dancer ::
The film will capture your heart from the very start, with a colourful beautiful dancer. She represents the possibilities of what is possible when a Girl is educated, when a Girl is treated equal, when a Girl is no longer pushed into a world where they are not allowed to have a voice.
Then you will be captured into another world. Where each Girl shares her story through the words of those that tell it well. I remembered that I most probably should have a box of tissues with me, and I remembered that I most likely should not have put on eye make-up yet I knew that I was not alone – there was a gorgeous blogger next to me who was feeling the same, and then when I looked around the room there was a room full of people who were also feeling the same.
One Girls Dream Made Me Listen ::
There are many Girls throughout the Movie who will touch your heart in many different ways, and who share from the heart struggles that no one should have to face. But for me there was one girl who I will always remember, cried for her sweet younger self and loved for her courage, and smiled with when she overcome her journey. She was 6 when she was ‘Bonded” to a family.
The age of 6 she was taken from her parents, who bonded her to a “Master”. I can not even begin to imagine what those parents must have been feeling and I can’t even imagine how a 6 year old survived and thrived so well. My youngest is 8 and there is no way in this world that I could “Bond” him into a life so harsh.
Her story was hard, she worked from 4am till late at night – taking care of the house and the family. From that house she was bonded to another house around the age of a 11 {I think that was when she went to her second house, not sure if I remember correctly?}
To where she can’t share all of the details of what went on within that home because to be able to survive her story is blank with some of the details. There she learnt to sing and write stories.
Her songs tell her life. Her songs are not only heartfelt but also are written from within. It was her way of being able to still Dream. Her way of being able to make a difference. Her way to escape.
That one little sweet girl was the last to be bonded in her family – she was freed by a teacher who spoke for her. And now she is grown up and she speaks for other girls who are now in the very same situation she once was in. She Sings So Others Can Hear
A teacher who taught her how to write by candle light, who took the time to listen to her and other girls who were also bonded. A teacher who made a difference to her life so that now as a grown Women she make a difference to another girls life.

That One Story Made A Difference
It made a difference to me, and I sure hope that it makes a difference to you. A difference World Wide.
This movie should be shown in all High Schools, as part of their Curriculum.
Girlrising Where Dreams Are Possible ~ is one movie that everyone world wide needs to experience.
The other girl that also touched my heart was not able to show her Face. She was not able to share who her name is. For her own Safety and for the safety of her Family. Yet she was strong, so very strong. So very brave and put up a fight against what was considered the norm for her culture. I hope her voice is heard for ever more, and I hope she realises that she is not alone. I don’t to share her Story here because I want you to experience it first hand.
Dreams Are Possible :: This I Am Sure Of
Thanking you to 10×10 for Presenting GirlRising. Thanking you World Vision for letting me experience the movie. Thanking you for giving me back my dreams.
I have let others take a part of me lately, and I have been going within to see what I really want from life. Friday Night was good, it helped with the questions I have been asking lately. It has helped with re-focusing on what I want for my family, for me and for My Husband. It has helped to make goals and dreams a reality.
But its done more than I can actually say.
Screening Of The Movie ::
I was talking to another Homeschooling Mum the other day at a Park about screening of the movie. This movie is not yet available on DVD – if it ever becomes available there will be copies purchased here at New Life on the Road so that I can share it far and wide – and its not available at Cinemas as a normal screening. But Communities can arrange to have the movie screened so that others can see how important the gift of education is.
I sure hope that the conversation with the Homeschooling Mum leads to the movie being shared here in Wollongong area {or where ever I will drive to see this movie!!}. I do know that I will be letting both my boys experience the story of how important Equal Rights are for Women World Wide. And I hope that by sharing the movie other people’s dreams are awaken.
Girlrising – Where Dreams Are Possible, you just need to have a dream.
You just need to let your dreams become your life.
You just need to listen to the inner voice and not those around you.
After all if these Girls Dreams can come true, anything in this world is possible.
Have You Seen Girlrising?
Have You Got A Dream Within But You Are Not Sure How To Live The Dream?
This world is incredible, connecting with others when its meant to be, and finding who we are meant to be. Dreams Will Live On in this Motorhome, hope they live on within you too. Hope you let your childhood dreams become your real life.
Thanking you for Following Our Journey.

Thank you so much for holding my hand through those “confronting” moments. I felt like we were a force, knowing that while both watching it, we want to take action.
I’m planning to hold a screening at my church.
Hope to catch up with you again very soon!!! xxx

Wow Lisa, no I have not seen this. But, my jaw dropped reading about the 6 year old girl and being bonded to a new family. I love to hear success stories…especially with kids who overcome great adversity 🙂
