Have Lots of Hill End to still share here at New Life on the Road. But I was trying to find Photos of Hill End New South Wales Township when I realised that I have hardly any photos….guess I used the Video Camera instead?
Hill End New South Wales ::
What I did find was these….
GREAT WAR REMEMBRANCE 1914-1919
There was a Market on the Weekend. Stalls set up in the Town Hall as well as this stall set up outside the General Store. Where the Blacksmith was making items for sale.
We have a Choofer that we like to cook on….mind you its not as wonderful as this little black piggy!
Loved walking from Building to Building to read the Information Boards about how the Town used to be, and see the development that the town has made since it began.
A series of Historic Photographs were taken in 1872 by a Photographer Beaufoy Merlin. His work shows how much the town was an overnight success with many flocking there for the Gold. It was once the largest inland town in New South Wales….through this information boards one can imagine what the township used to look like.
Gosh what an incredible Painting. Such talent….Hill end in 1957. History is my all time favorite subject – it takes one back to a time and place where many others have been before but also lets you imagine what your life would have been like if you were living in that era!
Not many people made it rich with Gold Mining, many others had to work “hard” for their money {joke} with Jobs.
The Horse and Buggy was riding through town….could you imagine having to ride like that to travel to the biggest nearest town! Yeah that would be one long hard ride!
Wished I had taken more of Hill End New South Wales while we were there…..guess we were having too much fun to remember the Camera!
Have You Been To Hill End?
Cheers
Lisa
