Yesterday I wanted to keep away from text books for the morning as the boys needed a break! So we decided to get the art supplies out of the cupboard and concentrate on Homeschool Art Lessons. We are Homeschooling in Australia with text books from a company down south called “Homeschool Supplies Australia“
Homeschool Art Lessons
As the boys are very crafty (not sure where they get that from!) I have a big supply of Art and Craft items. If they could spend their whole week doing Art Lessons then they would be over the moon. Anything to do with glue, cutting, sticky tape and paper then they are able to make the most amazing creations. Maybe they get their talent for art and craft from Davids side of the family, sure isn’t from me as I am not into painting or drawing!
Very Relaxed Lessons
The idea of Homeschooling Unschooling, or Natural Schooling (or whatever you want to call it) means that the children self direct what they want to do for the day. So we are sorta of in between – some days we will do text book work, other days I let the boys to decide what they want to do, and other days we are so busy out exploring that it soon becomes a lesson about living! With Homeschool Art Lessons the boys are free to create, paint, draw, paste, invent and are able to choose from the art supply what they want. Its amazing to sit and be a part of their creations – sometimes I sit still and watch (and listen) to be amazed with how their minds work. Other times I join in, and let them show me how to make whatever takes their fancy.
Kyle was dressing up a shape of a Person – he glued down three layers of clothing items!
Kyle ended up with a figure of a person dresed with crazy clothes!
Kyle Painting with glue! Gosh it was every where 🙂
Cameron Creating Art
Camerons Creations!
That was a great morning full of fun, mess and wonderful creations! I love how flexible we can be with teaching our boys. Homeschool Art Lessons soon become educational in itself – as they have to work out what to cut, where to place paper that they are gluing, and sometimes even has maths questions as they need to work out how much one piece of paper can be cut up into however many pieces they need!
Love the beauty of natural unschooling homeschooling!

Looks like you had lots of fun! The boys look like they had a great time!
Hello Amy,
They sure did! I love art and craft mornings – the boys love creating and exploring what they can make!
cheers

Kids love creating things and the best part of homeschooling art lessons would be that the kids wouldn’t have to try and get there creations home after school.

So true Jackie. I can remember picking them up from prep in the afternoons with so much art and craft creations that I have trouble carrying them into the car!!

Nice work – natural schooling is just so good for kids’ confidence – no judgement, no marks, just pure creativity in whatever way they want to do it. I love the way you fit homeschooling with travel!
Hi Carolyn,
We love seeing what the boys create with Homeschool Art Lessons! They are so amazing with how their minds work 😉

Hey Carolyn, I came across your blog while trying to find out what others are doing to teach art at home. I am presently doing a ten part series on teaching my own children how to sketch. You can check it out at sketchbook7.com if you are interested. Label – Anyone Can Sketch.
