This was meant to go live ages ago…but you know one thing about travelling and blogging? There never seems to be enough time for doing both at the same time.
Actually I had forgotten that we went down to Kiama Markets one Saturday morning until I was looking through pictures of the last few months. I put together a Photo Album for my Mum for a Xmas Pressie and I found that I had a lot of pictures from our Market day that I hadn’t shared here on New Life on the Road.
So before we leave the Wollongong Area I am going to pump out as many blog posts on all of our travels in the area so that when we travel I can post fresh posts about the areas we see and what we are going to be doing. Mind you I bet that I still found many more photo albums of places that we have visited and not shared!!
We love Markets. When we were on the Sunshine Coast we used to visit Peregian Markets and Yandina Markets. Since we have been in Wollongong we actually haven’t been to that many markets….not sure why but I think its because our weekends are taken up with so many trips to either Sydney or down South that we haven’t set the time aside to go to the markets.
When we lived in D’aguilar {QLD} David used to visit the Caboolture Markets every weekend – now that is one HUGE markets. Where you can buy really great fruit and veggies at great prices, but that was way before our blog so I don’t have pictures to share on those trips, maybe one day we will visit there again if we are ever in the area.
But lets get back to Kiama Markets.
What a wonderful perfect location to have the markets….
Make sure you arrive early because it gets really busy, and its hard to find a car parking spot….wait to you hear what happened when we tried to leave!
They both had $5.00 each to spend on things.. Cameron bought a Minions which he still has. Kyle purchased a amethyst stone, we are not sure where that went to?
Wished we had a wall {or two} that we could pictures up on but we don’t have any more room for stuff so looking at these will have to do.
Oh I so love the “Family” Wooden Sign and the “Love” Sign. Not sure where I would put that in a Motorhome? But if we had a house {not that we want that!!!} I so would have the “Love” sign in the lounge room and the “Family” sign in the Family room 🙂
We parked up on the hill, on soft grass, with a bit of dip. And do you think we could get out? David tried backing out but the grass was too wet and she dug the grass up but couldn’t get any traction. So we went down onto the grass and tried to drive out forwards at the end of the area {behind the big tall trees} but she just kept spinning her tyres and going back wards. It took three attempts of David backing up, and flooring it before we got out.
What was so very funny was a very young guy next to us in his Ute with his really gorgeous girlfriend. They both sat there laughing at our first attempt to get out.
We got the last laugh though….they too spun their wheels and got bogged in the grass.
I still laugh about that day, trying to leave Kiama Markets.
When I was 18 I went to England to Visit family. The beaches over there are all rocky {from what I remember} and Blacks Beach reminds me of England!!!
We loved visiting Kiama Markets.
Information :: Held on the 3rd Sunday of each month from 9am -3pm at Blacks Beach.
Have You Been To Kiama Markets?
Cheers

What a great spot for the markets. We went down to Kiama for the Emergency Services festival in that spot. I didn’t realise there were markets there. I need to check them out next time. Thanks for the round up.

Love Kiama Markets – my friend Lisa has a stall named “Fairy Frocks” there. Kiama is such a beautiful town – my first job was in the Commonwealth Bank there – as a teller my view was the harbour. That was many years ago, before the branch was renovated. My last job before we moved to the Hunter was at Woolworths Kiama.

I love markets and it’s amazing that how no matter where you go they have them… with their own special flavour of course. I love that fairy clock! She’s a whacky fairy!

I love strolling through markets like these. We’re hoping to go on a camping trip to the south coast these holidays (I think I’ve already told you – which goes to show how excited I am!) and if we’re near Kiama, I’ll definitely make sure we’ll try to go to the markets. Every 3rd Sunday! Will keep that in mind! x

I love markets and especially if they are near the ocean. I agree it is difficult to travel and blog about it at the same time. I wish you luck 🙂

I haven’t been to Kiama Markets, but I have been to Kiama and loved it (even though it rained all weekend!) The markets look ace, I’ll have to check them out next time I’m in the area. Love me a good market!
I absolutely love markets but I do NOT like crowds of people! I know, I know…can’t always have it both ways. The garlic and Kangaroo Valley Gourmet stands really caught my eye. I would have most definitely made some purchases. Oh, next time you are on a hill like that try approaching it at an horizontal angle as much as possible versus directly vertical to the hill. I can see from the picture you didn’t have much room to even attempt that likely. But, glad you got the last laugh in with that young couple, Lisa! 🙂

We live in Kiama and enjoy every market, especially the produce market each week. My sister in WA is thinking to sell up and travel by camper van around Australia, obviously you are having a wonderful time travelling around…ENJOY!!
