Ourimbah Rest Area :: Overnight Rest Area

Posted by on February 14, 2013

We had to be in Wollongong by a certain date and we also wanted our last day of travelling to be less stressful so David picked out Ourimbah Rest Area as our last overnight rest area to stay at!

It was also a little drive to Shelly Beach – where our boys could stretch their legs, have fun on the sand or swim in the ocean before it was bed time/dinner time.

Oh and we were also searching for a laundry mat, but that’s a story for another time!

Ourimbah Rest Area ::

Was impressed with the rest area – it had nice toilets, a playground, picnic table/chairs and even a map of the area. The map also showed our boys how much we had travelled in the two days – between you and me I never ever want to travel that far again in such a short time….it was too fast, with not enough time to see anything. There was SO many wonderful places that we wanted to stop and explore!

The Area Information ~

Good to read about the people in the area.

He was interested in the Local National Parks!

great place for our kids to have fun!

Kyle loves swimming at the beach ~

he is probably our biggest lover of water!

The beauty of the overnight rest area is that its only about an hour to Sydney, which meant we were close to Wollongong. Mind you that road down into Wollongong felt like it took forever….David drove as slow as he could – without using the brakes too much. He was concerned about burning the brakes out – the road is very scary!

We parked at the best place over night!

Yep we parked in the perfect spot!

Highly recommend Ourimbah rest area, mind you the sign says no camping – there was heaps of campers! And if you do not get there early enough then you would be stuck, the place was packed.

Have You Stayed at Ourimbah Rest Area?

Thanking you following our Journey.

Cheers

We arrived into Wollongong from Canberra by bus and that was a very scary road as well. Ourimbah looks and sounds like a great overnighter, but we have not been there.
