I have taken Cameron to The Powerhouse Museum ages ago. But I haven’t ever taken Kyle to The Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. Until Yesterday. Now I would say that he is hooked on the place! He loved it. Had the best time ever.
The downstairs section is free for kids, along with the next floor. There is a paid section which we ended up deciding to do – and I am so glad we did because Kyle loved it!! It was all about “Future Park” – where Kyle was able to colour in a picture, scan it and see it come up on a wall that interacts with other drawings. Yeah it was super cool and super fun.
Power the Siren, be so good to power a washing machine by a bike! Great way to exercise 🙂
Still can’t believe that they sleep standing up, in sleeping bags!!!
And then there is the toilet information – they have pictures of how they are held onto the toilet, and the devices they use to make sure the waste is taken away the right way!
I couldn’t go inside the spaceship as it turns while you are standing there, and my vertigo wouldn’t cope with that!!
At the “Future Park” Kyle coloured a picture of a person, who ended up looking just like him! And then scanned it – it then ended up showing up on a wall. It moved and interacted with other figures, and when you tapped the person on the wall it would turn and give you a high five, jumping into the air. Super Super Cool!!!
And loves pulling funny faces 🙂
The Train Drivers would have been really hot or very wet depending on the weather as they didn’t have any covers over their carriage!
The history of the Shops were fascinating – from the clothes, to what they sell, to the cash register!
The inside of the Ferris Wheel – which shows how they power it when its working. There is something about a Ferris wheel!
From Trains, to carriages, to planes….its the history of how people traveled from place to place. And its worth taking the time to stop and read the displays….Seeing the room spaces on the Planes compared to now – and the food they used to serve compared to what they serve now!!
Imagine traveling with passengers on this horse and carriage? It would be so bumpy and hot, yet I reckon it would be an adventure, and you would get to meet other people!
The history of how we used to travel – through the times of horse drawn carriages to big pram buggy’s. We sure have changed our transportation to get us around Australia.
The racing cars sure are different now!
The Powerhouse Museum has so much to look at, and so much to read. With three floors of displays, it worth taking a few hours to a day to look at everything.
Another idea would to have an yearly pass so that you could go back and look at when ever you wanted! Kids entry is free which amazing.
