Today we woke up to the boys excited screams! They seen “Nosey” shake her back legs, and make some really loud noises, and then she went down and then stood back up. We Had A Baby and we didn’t even know it was pregnant. Its the sweetest thing ever, and our boys got to see a live birth – best homeschooling lesson ever!
See the Spot where it was born? Blossom {the cow on the left} went over to that very spot, had a great sniff and then put her head up, curling up her lip as if to say “Yuck, what is that smell” – it was so very funny, and I didn’t have my camera ready to snap the picture!
Kyle got to it closer later on this afternoon and he thinks its a Girl – which then led to a great homeschooling conversation about “Girl Private Parts” and “Boy Private Parts” – Yes I explained that Boys have Penis, and Girls have Vaginas – and how Girls {women} can birth babies, and how cows also have to go through “Labour Pain” to have a baby – explaining how the contractions can start at 30 minutes apart and then work up to 5 minutes apart or even closer. Until the baby is born.
We had a Baby and it is now part of the family! And I don’t have to get up to feed it all night long!
It lead to conversations about why the Mama Cow was laying down in the shade instead of standing up like it normally does – because it has gone through the Labour and now needs to rest and recoup. The conversation then lead to what will will happen if its a Male {it will have its men parts removed so it can’t keep breeding} and if its a Female then it could have its own babies.
Totally wonderful homeschooling conversation about the reproductive system – it was brilliant.
And the sweet baby is so very cute! We are looking forward to watching it grow and change as it develops over the next few weeks.
Have You Seen A Baby Being Born?
Cheers

New Life on the Road.
You had me going, I thought YOU must have had a baby! (I didn’t think I was that far behind on your posts.)
What an amazing experience for your boys. I am sure it was one they will never forget!
Yeah it was incredible, they are both still talking about the birth and how amazing the Mama was for going down, and then standing up with the baby, and then the baby knowing where to feed from!!!
